First step explosiveness can be a game changer for many athletes, making a big difference in one’s ability to get going as fast as possible. Here are two exercises we like to utilize to train that first step:
1). Sled Lunge Pass
2). Med Ball Chase
Both exercises require the athlete to focus on pushing through the front foot to extend the leg as hard and fast as possible. Adding the resistance of the sled and med ball allow us to strengthen that movement, producing more force through that first step.
