Cayuga Lake Major League Fishing tournament is in the books. Had a great practice on Wed with 18lbs. Then the next three days progressively got worse. Happy I run a Suzuki Marine USA ! Thanks for the contingency. The most reliable motor on the water! Thanks to Mike B. and all the folks that run the BFL events.

I am grateful for the first cast. Everything in my life went well enough for me to be there for it. Thanks to my family, friends, SUF community, wife and sons for the support to allow me to chase this passion.

Nobody sets a 4 a.m. alarm for something they don't love.

The custom Rock Crawler on BardeRodz Kraken and ZMan Shroomz Finesse jig on BardeRodz Slick Stick helped me out this weekend.

I was able to grab the highest-placing Suzuki Marine USA boater in the Major League Fishing BFL Northeast event on Lake Champlain — thanks Suzuki Marine for the contingency prize. 26th out of 77 boats puts me 36th in points on the year after missing the first tournament.
Thanks to Doc T. for the custom Rock Crawlers — those baits helped me cull a couple times.

The trip wasn't without adversity. I had a Talon break on me. Got a nail in my tire and spent part of a practice morning on roadside repair before we even launched. I was able to put together another second straight weekend of 16-lb bags on Champlain — two last weekend and one this weekend.

One decision I'd take back: I left a rocky shoal that was slowly producing instead of making another pass through it, I moved on. That shoal likely would have produced one more 3-4 lb'er that probably would have had me in the top ten instead of 26th.

Grateful for every trip. Just making the first cast is a blessing. I try to remember "What you take for granted, someone else is wishing for."

Ken and I made some good memories on Champlain this week — and Texas Roadhouse gave us some good dinners. 😋

I was able to squeeze out 1st place at the Greylock Bass Club tournament on Lake Champlain Mallets Bay this weekend — 10 fish, 33 lbs 0.2 oz across two days, fishing jig and neko presentations on my BardeRodz Slick Stick and GENESIS.
Grateful to be able to get out on the water, the club, and another reminder that trusting the process pays off.

Lake Champlain MLF5 Major League Fishing record. Congrats to Cal Lane and all the competition.

🚨BREAKING: RECORDS!

Cal Lane, take a bow. With a three-day tournament total of 65 pounds, 7 ounces, Lane broke the record for largest three-day catch at Lake Champlain in MLF/FLW history, eclipsing the 64-1 Kyle Cortiana caught in a 2024 Toyota Series event to take down Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit Stop 6 Presented by Vosker.

Lane followed up an historic Day 2 bag (the third largest ever caught in a single day of MLF/FLW competition at Champlain) with another 20 pounds, 1 ounce on Sunday to seal the deal for a cool $100,000. Congrats, Cal!
