For some people, open water swimming is about connecting with nature and escaping the day-to-day of life. For some it is an amazing full-body workout. For others it is part of their triathlon or Alcatraz swim training. For some people it is just a really fun, exhilarating experience. For us it has been all of these things, and we love it! We want to give our fellow Bay Area residents a chance to e

xperience it in a comfortable, safe, and fun environment. ODYSSEY Open Water Swimming offers low-key open water swims every week, all year round. These swims are structured to fit the needs of the participants, so whether you're coming to train or just to get some exercise or enjoy the beauty of the Bay, you've come to the right place! We also offer a great team-building experience for companies and other groups. Braving the open water will bring your members closer together and give them an experience they will remember forever. We will personalize a swim based on your group's goals and ability level. Thanks for your interest in ODYSSEY Open Water Swimming!

Reminder!

Tomorrow at 8am Coach Christina will be facilitating our very first Conquering Fear clinic at Lordships before our community swim.

This class is for all levels! Whether you’re simply curious about open water swimming or are preparing for your first Alcatraz this summer and need techniques to stay calm in all conditions. All are welcome.

Friend/fundraiser:
This swim supports Rosie the Riveter Trust, which is the official nonprofit partner of the Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front National Historical Park. The swim takes place where 747 Liberty Ships were built and launched during WWII. Six million women were among the workers who made the ships and planes, jeeps and other war needs across the country during this time. They proved to the world that they could do anything!

Come for the swim, stay for the Rosie the Riveter camaraderie! Whether you’re in the water or cheering from the shore, we welcome you to be part of this exciting day. WE CAN DO IT!

One thing special about Odyssey is that we’re a community of all paces, faces, experiences, and abilities. But sometimes you just need to post that shockingly straight line between buoy one and two, you know? 😎

Shout to the community members already active in the Odyssey Strava Club. You guys are rocking the weekly swims.

Karl the Fog’s angry brother Steve the Squall rolled in today and showed that open water swimmers are just built different! The smiles say it all.

Guided by our incredible downwind paddler Vio these swimmers (and more!) braved some very gnarly conditions without our typical course.

And a special shout out to our women led crew Chenoa and Emily for braving the elements to brief our swimmers and to keep things running smoothly.

If you decided to cancel your swim this morning I will be reaching out to you to with regard to a refund or a swim credit!

What is the Rat Race? Is it a race against the clock? A state of mind? Somewhere in between?

Our annual Race Race is a celebration of our amazing community and our way of saying thank you. Whether you’re in it for the prize, or just in it for the love of the water– Rat Race is what you make of it.

In addition to the 3k (1.86 mi) race, there will be a 1.5k (0.93 mi) course which will turn at a buoy before reaching Rat Rock.

We’d also like to take a moment to recognize some incredible members of our community during this event. Know someone who you think is particularly inspirational? Or exemplifies community spirit? Email [email protected] to nominate a swimmer.

Swimmers are provided with official times and winners are announced at the conclusion of the race where they are invited to join a catered lunch. Lunch is provided for free for all race participants and available for purchase for spectators and family members on site via tap to pay.

The Odyssey Rat Race is open to all experience levels, and no membership is required. Any swimmer comfortable swimming either course is welcome to participate.
