KIDS FALL FITNESS PROGRAM
coming to Self Sufficient Fitness in Berkeley Heights!!

I’ve been working on a kids program for ages 7–10 that combines getting stronger and more athletic with something I think is just as important: learning what you’re capable of.

This isn’t just “come in and do some exercises.” Kids will work through progressions, take on challenges, earn milestones, celebrate accomplishments and have plenty of opportunities to move, compete, laugh and have fun along the way.

We’ll use rings, ropes, TRX, bands, med balls, sleds, bodyweight/calisthenics, mobility, posture work and team challenges to help kids build strength, coordination, confidence and independence.

Move → Challenge → Ownership → Self Sufficient

And yes, there will be some fun prizes and bragging rights along the way! 🎉

The program:

Tuesdays + Thursdays | 3:45PM
Maximum 10 kids,
45 minutes-
Will run through the fall/winter with the opportunity to continue through winter/spring.

No drop-ins. This is a program where kids get to know each other, build on what they’ve learned and actually see their progress.

My son will be joining the group as well, which I’m really excited about 😃

I’m still working out the exact start date, so for now I’m opening up a priority interest/registration list for families who want to learn more and have first opportunity to grab a spot.

Ages 7–10 only. 10 spots total for Fall Program

RESERVE YOUR SPOT AT SELFSUFFICIENTFIT.com/kidsfallprogram

And as always, message me if you have any questions. I’d be happy to talk through whether it’s a good fit for your child.

* great for the kid who hasn’t found an outlet, who needs a boost in confidence and capability, who prefers positive reinforcement and wants to try something new!

3 years! Scroll to see the journey so far! Self Sufficient Fitness in Berkeley Heights is officially in business for 3 years. Through 2 major floods that destroyed the downtown areas. A structural failure that forced me completely out of the building for four months. I’ve rebuilt three times, and still getting stronger. When I opened in August 2023, I had less than 600sq ft. I opened an office across the hall and was able to conduct more personal consultations in a separate space. Now, 8 months back from being displaced when the very foundation fell from under the building, I am in a 1400 sq foot space, helping the same clients who helped me persevere through the last three years. This is your reminder to never give up, and every step back is two steps forward. I’m happy to continue serving Berkeley Heights and surrounding areas. Here’s to year number 4!

Sometimes the biggest wins from training have nothing to do with the number on the scale.

A client who comes in with their spouse recently told me they’ve been working out consistently, feeling happily sore, and getting the deepest sleep they have had in weeks.

That’s what Self Sufficient Fitness is about. Getting stronger, moving better, feeling better, and seeing those changes show up in everyday life. It’s great to see when clients are working out on their own!

The workouts matter. But so does everything that comes between! 💪🏻

SELF SUFFICIENT FITNESS CLASSES FOR KIDS!

I’ve been thinking about starting a kids fitness class at Self Sufficient Fitness in Berkeley Heights for ages 7–10.

There are so many great activities for kids with specific interests in our area. Baseball. Gymnastics. Martial arts. Dance, etc.

But there’s a bit of a gap for the kid who just needs a place to move, have fun, build confidence and get stronger.

This wouldn’t be about specializing in one sport. It would be about being active and learning what your body can do.

We’d use the equipment we have in the studio in a way that keeps things fun and age-appropriate:

• Ninja rings and climbing challenges
• Ropes
• Medicine balls
• Sleds
• Bodyweight exercises
• Light weights
• Cables
• TRX
• Strength and endurance games

Fitness isn’t just physical. For kids, it can be a way to build confidence, learn how to challenge themselves and work through frustration.

It can also be a great complement to kids who already play multiple sports by giving them a chance to work on general strength, coordination, and endurance, without specializing in another sport.

My own kids love coming to the studio and trying all the different equipment, and I’d love to create a space where other kids can experience that too.

The idea:
Ages 7–10
After school
2 days per week (drop in and packages but no membership fee)
Only 6–8 spots per class to keep it safe, personal and effective.
Parents are welcome to stay and observe.

I’m still putting the details together, but this is something I’m really looking forward to bringing to Self Sufficient Fitness in Berkeley Heights.

I’ll be sharing more about the class soon. If you’re interested please leave a message or
you can check out the studio and what I currently offer at SELFSUFFICIENTFIT.com

At Self Sufficient Fitness, inclusion is not a seasonal message. It is a standard I hold year round. Everyone deserves a place where they feel safe, respected, and supported in their fitness journey.

Fitness can often feel exclusive or intimidating. That does not align with what I believe in. Training should meet you where you are, regardless of identity, background, body type, or experience level. Progress comes from consistency, care, and an environment that supports you while you build it.

I am proud to stand as an ally to the LGBTQ+ community and to affirm that my space is open to all individuals. Respect, dignity, and acceptance are part of every session, every interaction, and every client relationship.

Pride Month is a reminder to keep building spaces where people can show up fully and be supported as they are. ❤️ 💪🏻 🌈

Vitamin D supports bone health, immune function, muscle strength, mood, and energy levels ☀️

A simple way to check UV exposure? The “shadow rule.” If your shadow is shorter than you are, the sun is strong enough for your body to produce vitamin D. If your shadow is longer, UV levels are usually too low for much vitamin D production.

Getting sunlight can also help regulate sleep, improve mood, support focus, encourage daily movement, and help your body maintain a healthy circadian rhythm.

A few safe minutes of sunlight can go a long way.
