Today, the Bergenfield Bears Football and Wrestling programs came together for a great cause — honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedoms. 🇺🇸
•
This Memorial Day, our athletes participated in the “Murph” workout — a challenging workout named in honor of Navy SEAL Lt. Michael Murphy, who gave his life in service during Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan. Murph consists of:
• 1 mile run
• 100 pull-ups
• 200 push-ups
• 300 air squats
• 1 mile run
The workout is meant to test mental toughness, discipline, and perseverance — but more importantly, it serves as a way to remember and honor those who sacrificed everything for this country.

Today wasn’t about comfort. It was about pushing ourselves to do hard things together in remembrance of those who gave it all for our liberties and way of life. We sacrifice our comfort for a small moment to honor those whose sacrifices can never truly be repaid.

Congratulations to senior Nicolette Vivas on earning the recognition she deserves!
This young woman battled all season long and fell just short in a tough region—one that produced three state placers in her bracket.
•
She finishes the year with 36 wins and cements her legacy as Bergenfield’s all-time winningest female wrestler.
•
Congratulations again on an outstanding season, your 2nd Team All-County honors, and an incredible career.

That officially wraps up the 2025–2026 wrestling season for the Bergenfield Bears.
🐻
Proud of these guys for battling their way all the way to Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall to compete in the NJSIAA State Wrestling Championships.
•
All three finished the season with 30+ wins, including 2 District Champions and 3 State Qualifiers. They helped push our team to a 17–12 record this year.
•
More than the wins and accomplishments, I’m proud of the way these guys competed, represented our program, and chased their goals all season long.
•
For two of them, this marks the end of their high school wrestling careers. It’s been an honor to coach you and watch you grow through this sport.
A great season for the Bears.
Proud of you guys and our entire program. We made huge strides this year. Thank you to our seniors for leading the way and leaving your mark on our program!

Proud of these young men for battling their tails off this weekend and qualifying for the NJSIAA State Tournament.
•
For the first time in 16 years, Bergenfield is sending three wrestlers to Atlantic City. The last time it happened was back in 2010.
•
All the early mornings, tough losses, hard practices, and belief in the process led to this moment.
But we’re not done yet.
•
Now it’s time to put a run together… because anything can happen under the lights in Boardwalk Hall.

Muhammed Tafida dropped a hard-fought match and moves into the wrestlebacks.

Gabe Gomez picked up a win before falling in the quarterfinals, but he’s still alive in the wrestlebacks.

It’s going to take everything to punch those tickets — and it starts with believing you belong here.
