Kayak tip #2: Go to the dumpster behind a flooring installer's location and get a scrap piece of linoleum. It should be about 4 or 5 feet long by 18 inches wide. Put it on the tailgate of your truck running parallel to the truck bed. Use the linoleum as a makeshift conveyer belt. This one scrap of flooring will minimize wear and tear on the boat and truck bedliner.

Paddle Owsley Fork Kayak Tip Series is bits and pieces of wisdom I've picked up over the years. From time to time, I'm going to share these tips gleaned from everyday life experiences. Real.

Tip #1: I see lots of boaters dragging their kayaks in the gravel or dirt. This is a surefire way to thin whatever material makes up your kayak. If you drag your kayak several times each summer for a couple years you'll have a hole in your kayak. Yes, you can patch it. But you can't drag it anymore because it's not strong enough to stay put. The patch will not hold. With a patch on the bottom of the kayak you have to treat it with kid gloves. You can't slide it, roll it, drag it. So just don't drag it to begin with.

Josh Anglin was playing the Kentucky Lottery online while he waited for his father and son to arrive at a carpentry job in Louisville. His wait quickly turned into the moment of a lifetime.

Paddling? The air is cool today with a slight breeze. The water is cold. Dress appropriately, hypothermia is very possible until June due to the wind, and temperature of the air and water. Avoid capsizing or becoming overly drenched. And always wear your life jacket appropriately snapped, zipped and snug.
