Team Electric Mayhem joins The Dark Zone: An Adventure Racing Podcast for their first full look back at the Adventure Racing World Championship in Corsica.

They talk about adapting early in a race that didn’t go to plan, navigating unfamiliar maps, and joining up with a fellow team for the second half of the course.

They also share the kindness of Corsican villagers along the way. The expected and unexpected challenges that kept arriving and arriving. The challenge of a race that turned into more of an adventure, and how they worked together over and over again.

The conversation keeps coming back to team dynamics: a year of preparation spent talking through expectations before the race, and what that preparation was worth once things got hard.

It's official, next year's ARWS North America Championship race will be hosted by the Maine Summer Adventure Race!

“I’m excited to announce the Maine Summer Adventure Race as next year’s ARWS North American Championship,” said ARWS CEO Heidi Muller. “The race is always one of the most popular in the USA, and is on the calendar for many Canadian teams as well.

“As the ARWS N. America Series Manager Cliff has helped us grow and develop the North America Series so it’s fitting the Championship will be at his race next year. Strong Machine are regular international competitors as well, so they are well known to the wider ARWS family around the world. They will put on a fantastic race for next year’s Championship.”

Race dates are July 10-11th, so mark your calendars!

The first details of the 2027 Sud Raid Adventure Race course are here… and that can only mean one thing: REGISTRATION IS OPENING VERY SOON! 😍

Here’s a first preview of the course, which will inevitably evolve a little between now and race day.

With all the short-course options (cuts), the route should be around 300 km with 6,000 m of elevation gain. This format has been designed to allow you to experience the vast majority of the race’s highlights, even if you take every single cut!

But if you don’t want to miss a thing, there’s only one goal: FULL COURSE! 🔥

Adventure racing has lost a bright talent and an inspiration to others.

Matías Vasella (23) was part of the Uruguayan team at this year's first Junior Adventure Racing World Championship in Canada, where he made new friends with other young racers from around the world, and showed his passion and talent for adventure racing.

Tragically, Matías was one of the three military personnel who died in an accident during a recent tactical diving course and he will be greatly missed.

Our condolences go to his family and friends, his team mates and the adventure racing community in Uruguay. Rest in peace Matias.

Las carreras de aventura han perdido a un talento prometedor y una fuente de inspiración para los demás.

Matías Vasella (23) formó parte del equipo uruguayo en el primer Campeonato Mundial Juvenil de Carreras de Aventura de este año, celebrado en Canadá, donde hizo nuevos amigos entre otros jóvenes competidores de todo el mundo y demostró su pasión y talento por las carreras de aventura.

Trágicamente, Matías fue uno de los tres militares que fallecieron en un accidente durante un curso reciente de buceo táctico y se le extrañará profundamente.

En nombre de todos nosotros, expresamos nuestras condolencias a su familia y amigos, a sus compañeros de equipo y a la comunidad de carreras de aventura en Uruguay.

Que descanse en paz.
