Carlisle Co. (KY) Lady Comets

Coming off one of their best seasons in program history, the Lady Comets return the entirety of their roster for next year. Longtime head coach Ember Wright has been at Carlisle for 20+ seasons, where she has won over 300 games during her career.

Marshall Co. (KY) Lady Marshals

Head Coach Lyndon Dunning returns to his alma mater to lead one of the winningest programs in state history. He will look to improve on last season’s 21-6 record in his first season in charge.

Senior sharp-shooter, Kenzlee Terry, led the Lady Marshals with nearly 16 pts per game last year and was named All-Region for her efforts. She is on the verge of breaking the school’s all-time 3-pt record during her senior year. Look for senior forward Rylan Darnall to have an increased impact this season, as well.

Fairdale (KY) Bulldogs

We are excited to welcome Fairdale back for the third consecutive season. The Bulldogs return their top five scorers from last year's team and will also enjoy the return of Louisville commit and Mr. Basketball candidate Ferlandes Wright, who returns to Fairdale after spending a year at Indiana prep powerhouse, La Lumiere. Coach Stinnett and the Bulldogs will not only be one of the top teams in the 6th Region, but should be one of the top teams in the state to start the year!

Guard Kamari Roberts led the Bulldogs in scoring with 17 points per game last year, while Jarel Butler manned the middle with over 16 points and almost 8 rebounds per game. Not to be outdone, Michael Ray Stinnett averaged over 15 points per game and hit almost 4 three-pointers per contest on over 50% shooting for the season.

Taylor Co. (KY) Cardinals

The Cardinals went 26-10 a season ago and advanced to the KHSAA Sweet 16 after winning the 5th Region Championship. Head Coach Josh Kays will look to improve on that record with a majority of last year's core returning this season.

Taylor County will be led by upcoming junior, Cooper Stone, who averaged over 21 points and 5 rebounds per game last season.

Pope County (IL) Pirates

The Pirates are making their first appearance at the Hoopfest in more than a decade. Pope County is coming off a 13-win season and looking to improve that mark under the leadership of veteran coach Jim Simmons.

Simmons is no stranger to 1st Region basketball and the Hoopfest, having coached at Graves County and Hopkinsville, both frequent participants in our event.

Look for the Pirates to be one of the most improved teams in southern Illinois this season.

Thank you to this wonderful woman, who played a massive role in Hoopfest for many years! She would never want this recognition, but she deserves it, and so much more. You are the best! Enjoy your retirement.

Today marks the end of an era. Athletic Secretary Vicki English is retiring today after more than 20+ years in our office! The words THANK YOU don’t do justice to the impact you have made on thousands of student athletes over your time at MCHS. Your caring attitude and constant smile will be missed in the years to come, but we know your support will remain. Thank you for everything you have done for the athletic department over the years and we hope you enjoy your retirement and extra time with your family!
