War On The Boards Rebounding Drill 1Club Hoops style! We love building drills that are gamelike! 🏀

Here is how we did it last night...

We setup 4V4 at one basket. A coach started the drill by throwing the ball to a offensive player. The coach immediately started a 5 second countdown to get a shot up. Shot selection was not the concern in this drill. We just wanted them to get a shot up! Rebounding, owning our space with a strong pivot, and making clean exit passes was last nights emphasis.

Our rules were as follows:

1. No baseline out of bounds.
2. Both teams could try to putback any rebound and "rescore" any make.
4. If the bounder cant score it, they had to make a strong & wide pivot and exit pass to a teammate or the coach who was now our steady outlet and retrigger. The players were allowed to employ escape dribbles to break free of the traps that were naturally occuring.
5. When the ball was exited to the coach or a player on the perimeter who wasnt attacking, the coach restarted the 5 second countdown. The coach kept them attacking!
6. 1 point was rewarded for a rebound or a score.
7. We will play games to a preset number and reward the losers with a su***de or some burpees next time.

When teaching it we suggest telling and retelling players to think Rebound React Reset & Retrigger until they get it!

It's nonstop, chaotic, physically demanding, visually demanding...and just alot of good ole fashion butt whoopin fun!

It can easily be tweaked for zone rebounding by going 4V4 box set vs diamond set or vice versa.

As a bonus it makes players explore how to create their own shot. You will be suprised what moves come out when you increase the pace with 5 second countdowns.

IMPORTANT UPDATE‼️🏀

All players can come to our 2nd tryout/practice tonight at Fellowship Church for 6pm. If that changes, we will post another update by 2pm today.

We rented the gym until 9, but, we anticipate being done by 8-830 at the latest.

Our goal remains to field a 15U team and a 13/14U team.

We have set a deadline for March 22 for 15U players. The tryout process can be a difficult decision. We will be patient and respect all players rights to explore their options.

Our 13/14U roster is almost set. A spot or 2 might still be up for grabs depending on what transpires with our 15U roster.

We might be able to offer opportunities to be alternates/practice players as well.
