This has been a post I kept going back and forth on because I want to continue helping people learn such a valuable skill but God is calling me to focus on my family and our family business for now. My passion to teach children life saving skills will never change; however, God has told me to place it on hold for now. If you didn’t know, I work full time doing all of the office work for our family oil and gas business, a wife, and mom of two. I was also teaching swimming lessons in between pick up hours or early mornings.

My love for my previous students will never change and once I am able to get more time, I will pursue teaching ISR again. God knows when that time will be and I just have to follow his timing.

If you would like continue lessons with another instructor, please reach out to me and I would be more than happy to give you their information! Please continue choosing ISR!!

I am currently booked for my first session of the year. I had so many parents reach out about refreshers and new sibling students. If you are a current student, I have a couple of refresher spots remaining.

Also, I will have morning refresher spots available during the summer! Message me if you are interested!

As a reminder, these are the options for lesson sign ups and what new student sessions, refresher lessons and maintenance lessons entail.

New student lessons:
-6 weeks (M-F) (lesson could go longer if sickness/ bad weather cancellations)
-These lessons are for children 6 months and up. There is no age limit to whom I teach, the only stipulation is I must have cooperation from a child/adult that can actually touch the bottom of the pool floor.
-Depending on your child’s age, it will determine if he/she learns how to rollback and float only, or if your child will learn the swim-float-swim sequence. If your child is walking, he/she will learn to go under water, eyes open, with excellent breath control, swim, roll back for air when necessary and flip over to swim.
It not only is important for a child to learn accurate swimming skills but it is extremely important for a child to learn how to self-rescue in case of emergency! -If you are an adult and want to learn how to float and/or swim, I can teach you as well! There is never a time you should say “I’m too old for that.”

Refresher lessons:
-2-3 weeks(M-F)
-These lessons help your child’s swim/rollback to float be where they need to be at all times. Every child’s body grows so that means each child needs to be comfortable in how to manage and control their added weight/length. These lessons are given after a student has gone through an entire new student session.
-I highly recommend every child doing refresher lessons every 3-6 months.
✨if your child had Refreshers or was a new student last year, get in for refreshers in my March/April session. It will ensure your child will be more comfortable in the water for the summer! Also, if you can, sign up for maintenance one day a week to keep your child in the water throughtout the year(when I’m in the pool).
-IMPORTANT information: if your child learned to only rollback and float last year, your child may now be at the age to incorporate the swimming portion as well.

Maintenance lessons:
-1 or 2 days a week
-These lessons are to maintain what your child has learned, as well as keeping their skills up to par throughout the year. Sometimes swimming on their own can develop bad habits so these lessons ensure that the form is being used properly and they are continuing to practice their skills regularly!
✨I highly recommend these lessons after refresher lessons and after going through the 6 week new student session.
✨These lessons are available March-October(when I’m in the pool).

This poor baby 😭
This is why some people think ISR will traumatize their child. THIS lady is not ISR certified and should not be allowed to teach lessons this way.

I know, I know… not trying to be a killjoy… just hear me out…

When we let our kids jump in and we catch them vertically with their head up out of the water, we are reinforcing the vertical, “drowning position”. 👎🏻

👍🏻Instead, let your child jump in and swim with their eyes in the water to your hands, swim a short distance and float, or swim to the side of the pool! All of these alternatives reinforce self-rescue swimming techniques and will lead to a more competent and confident swimmer! 😉
