Professional Sports Academy Climbs to Summit of Montserrado Cla- Doe 3rd Division League, Setting New Standards for Youth Development

By: Julius Konton

Professional Sports Academy (PSA) continues to make headlines in Liberia's grassroots football scene, as the academy's impressive performances have propelled it to the top of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) Montserrado County Sub-Association CLA-Doe- Sub- Committee 3rd Division League during the ongoing 2025/2026 season.

With 26 points from 14 matches, PSA has emerged as one of the most consistent teams in the competition, showcasing a blend of discipline, organization, tactical awareness, and youthful energy that has made them strong contenders for the league title.

The academy's remarkable campaign has been built on resilience and consistency.

Having suffered only two defeats throughout the season, PSA has demonstrated its ability to compete at a high level while maintaining a strong defensive and organizational structure.

Football analysts have attributed the team's success to meticulous preparation, disciplined leadership, and a clear developmental philosophy focused on nurturing young talent both on and off the field.

Building Liberia's Future Through Sports

Beyond its achievements on the football pitch, Professional Sports Academy has established itself as one of Liberia's most respected youth sports institutions.

Founded and owned by Liberia's Ambassador for Youth and Sports Development, Alioue Kebe, the academy has become a platform for empowering young Liberians through sports, education, mentorship, and personal development.

The academy provides training opportunities across multiple sporting disciplines, including football, basketball, and handball, helping to create pathways for young athletes seeking professional careers while promoting values such as leadership, discipline, teamwork, and responsibility.

Sports development experts have long emphasized the importance of structured academies in Africa's growing sports ecosystem.

According to global football development studies, more than 70 percent of professional footballers worldwide begin their journeys through organized youth academies, highlighting the critical role such institutions play in talent identification and development.

A Nation Rich in Talent

Liberia occupies a unique place in African football history.

The country remains the only nation to have produced a winner of the prestigious FIFA World Player of the Year award through football legend and former Liberian President George Weah, who won the honor in 1995.

Despite this historic achievement, sports stakeholders have often pointed to limited infrastructure, inadequate investment, and insufficient technical development programs as major obstacles preventing Liberia from fully realizing its vast sporting potential.

Ambassador Kebe believes the country possesses an abundance of untapped talent capable of competing on regional and international stages if given the proper support and opportunities.

" Liberia has tremendous talent," Kebe noted. "With greater investment, discipline, technical development, and commitment, our young athletes can achieve extraordinary results", he re-emphasized.

Vision Beyond the League

For Ambassador Kebe, the academy's success extends beyond winning matches.

His broader vision is to contribute to the transformation of Liberia's sports sector by creating a sustainable model that develops athletes holistically.

As a former professional footballer himself, Kebe understands both the opportunities and challenges young players face.

His experience continues to shape the academy's philosophy of combining athletic excellence with character development and educational support.

The academy's growing reputation has attracted attention from local football stakeholders who view PSA as an example of how grassroots sports institutions can contribute to national development while helping address youth unemployment and social challenges through constructive engagement.

Eyes on the Championship

While PSA currently sits atop the standings, the season remains highly competitive, and club officials are determined to maintain focus in the remaining fixtures.

Kebe praised both his players and technical staff for their dedication and professionalism throughout the campaign, while urging them to remain committed to the academy's objectives.

"Our target is clear," he said. "We want to win the championship, but we also want to continue building disciplined young people who can become leaders in society", he added.

With momentum on their side, a talented squad at their disposal, and a strong developmental structure guiding their progress, Professional Sports Academy appears well-positioned to continue its rise as one of Liberia's most promising sports institutions.

As the race for the 2025/2026 CLA-Doe Sub- Committee 3rd Division title intensifies, all eyes will remain on PSA, a club whose success story is increasingly becoming a symbol of what can be achieved through vision, discipline, and investment in Liberia's next generation.
