Please welcome John Capen to the 12-hour!!

John is no stranger to FT racing, having run loops and trails all over New England. Oh yeah, he's also going to be 82 on race day!! That's ALMOST an Ethan Allen record, but the most (life) experienced competitor best was actually set by then 83-year old competitor Gene Bruckert in 2018!

What does age and experience teach runners? To stay out of the sun and throw down big miles at night!! Looks like John is going to do just that by signing-up for the 12-hour with a relatively cold 9PM start. He may even same some time applying the SPF, as even the palest runner can skip the sunscreen overnight and get loopy under the lights!

Give a big maple welcome to Holley Cetrangolo and Jennifer Croteau, both of Vermont!! They're part of the youth invasion in the shorter race in the 30-39 AG. Will they keep the old folks honest, or get taught a thing or two? Only time will tell!! (yes, that was a terrible pun)

If you want to go long, but not 24-hours long, you can still sign up for the 9:00 PM start 12-hour! The cooler overnight hours also mean this is a great race for night owls, vampires, and speedy runners (M's CR, 71.50, W's CR, 67.99)

Only 19 weeks to go!!

It was a busy week on the entrants list, with the 6 already almost sold-out! Here were some of the shakeups ⬇️⬇️

In the 24-hour:

Please welcome Alexandra Besso, of nearby Saratoga Springs! Saratoga is known for horse racing, so the track should prove familiar territory. We can issue splits in furlongs, as requested! (not really)

Heading to the track in Bennington this summer will also be Michael Strzelecki, whose extensive results on Ultrasignup alone go back to the Mountain Ma*****st 50-Miler all the way in the 'early days' of ultras, 1991!

Pete Colaizzo is a frequent fixture at fixed-time races (try saying that one five times fast!) and will be out there all day... and all night, and then part of the next day. Basic knowledge of the course helps at the EA24, and Pete has proven he knows how to run in a circle. Knowing is half the battle

Dropping from the 24 list is 2019 Beebe Farm 48 women's 6-hour winner Lara Kondor. Lara swapped back into the 'short' race at the Ethan Allen, which means one more spot opened up in the one-day. More on this below

In the 6-hour:

Say hello to Jennifer Kessler! Jennifer was quick on the click and got one of the last remaining spots in the 6-hour. Currently, there are only 2 spots remaining. This was some white-knuckle, edge of your seat, refreshing Ultrasignup in your browser window action. Close one, Jennifer!

Ethan Allen 6-hour vet Keith Murray is back again for his second go-around(and around, and around) on the rubber in Bennington. Keith also ran the 2019 Beebe Farm 48 6-hour, and finished with nearly identical mileage. Two totally different courses, one super consistent runner

Hanna Littlefield usually goes long, but this year she's going fast. 2x podium finisher in the Ethan Allen 12-hour, Hanna will be getting loopy and adding another race to her already extensive FT resume. Watch out for her finish kick, we've got photographic proof it's legit

Erin Rasco is signed up for the 6-hour. One of five New Yorkers currently registered in the 6, Erin is probably hoping there's speed in numbers as the NY crowd represents the largest group from any one state in the event. Parts of New York are almost Vermont, so we're cool with that

Lara Kondor is speedy. She's steady as a rock and she's won races before. Lara is also mom to Noah, who just entered the race, too. Noah will turn 24 just as the 24-hour is wrapping up (how fitting!) Noah is also speedy, so Lara may have her work cut out for her if she wants to keep up. Or vice/versa

Noah Kondor also ran (and finished 2nd) in the 6-hour at Beebe Farm, making it an ultra distance on an unseasonably hot day. Make sure to wish him a happy birthday if you see him, which you probably will if he's lapping you. Kids these days!

How far can you go in Bennington??

The winning distances in both men's and women's 24-hour races last year scored among UltraRunning Magazine's 2019 list of top 24-hour performances

Emily is probably getting pretty used to it, having set marks in the top 25 THREE TIMES on the 2018 list, including her overall EA24 win!! 🏆

2x Ethan Allen 12-hour winner and CR-holder Amy Mower did something amazing this weekend, as she seems to do pretty frequently...

We'll let her hubby and cheering section, notable multi-day bard Benjamin Timoner, take it from here with an excerpt from his post:

Amy wins the 48hour race at Jackpot Ultrarunning Festival in Henderson, NV!
Fellow Seattle residents Jess Mullen and Jill Hudson round out the women's podium for a Seattle Sweep.

Amy totaled 190miles/305.775km over two days. She won outright over both the men's and women's fields. It was a difficult race, but she persevered and reclaimed her multi-day mojo!

Amy is one of nine American women who have broken 300km (186.41 miles) in 48 hours and now one of only five who have done it twice or more. These nine women have combined for twenty 300km+ performances, but only 6 of those performances were on American soil, most having occurred at the great invitational meets in Surgeres, France.
It turns out Amy will now be the only American woman in the DUV database to twice run 300km in 48 hours on American Soil! Additionally, of the five American women who have run 300km more than once, Amy is the only one to do it twice on an irregular surface, i.e., not a track!
(I invented these one-member clubs, but I still think they're special, especially the second one.)

Some runners have asked about device charging options out on the track 📱🔌🔋

Well, with two of these bad boys, you should be just about covered...

Don't even need a charging block, just bring a standard USB cable and you're all set!!!

We got awesome reviews from runners @ this year's Beebe Farm 48, even if it meant they were enjoying a little too much chäir and pizza rolls

We recommend putting a sticker, label, or something easily identifiable on your cord so you don't end up running a lap with someone else's iPod. If you do, we promise it will be either all Country or all Techno (whichever you don't like.)

We just got word from the USA Track & Field League Office that Judy Richwine's mark of 64,416 meters (40.026 miles) in the 2018 Ethan Allen 12-hour... is a NEW AMERICAN AG (70-74) RECORD!!!!!

Her performance had been pending all the way back since it was set, but was only recently ratified at the USATF Annual Meeting!! There can be a lot of T's to cross and I's to dot when you're dealing with records 😉

Want to set a record? Fully USATF Sanctioned and Certified (including 100K/mile splits in both directions) and IAU - International Association of Ultrarunners Bronze Label event for 2020. That means runners from all countries can set world records, qualify for their national teams, SPARTATHLON teams, and other events!!

HUGE CONGRATS to Judy and we hope she's enjoying her Valentine's Day sundae with a record on top!!
