A Travesty on the Upper Deschutes River - http://www.bendsource.com/Bent/archives/2013/10/18/low-water-leaves-scores-of-fish-dead-on-upper-deschutes - This goes to show who still holds the cards here in Central Oregon. Farming and the way of life that is a huge part of American history is a thing of the past!
Farmers make more money, from the federal and state governments, the more they fail (subsidies), so why is it that we continue to flood the land with precious water in light of the FACT that more failure=more money for these guys? Let them get their government checks and LEAVE THE WATER IN THE RIVER, where it belongs!
Jeff P.This brown trout and smaller rainbow trout are just a few of the victims of our antiquated water management policies. Countless fish now lay dead on the banks of the Upper Deschutes, stranded after the Water Resources Department reverted to extremely low winter flow rates earlier this week.
