Robert and his wife joined us for a day of butbot fishing to try and get a 27 inch Burbot for her master angler. They ended the trip with 14 fish & lost 3. She came very close with a 26.5 inch.

Last night One house caught 9 and lost 3 to 5 fish. The other house caught 6 and lost 5 or 6 ending the night with 15 Burbot.

We have Weekends & Weekdays open for Rentals & Burbot trips.
Our Rentals are on Burbot.
We ended the weekend with 21 Burbot. Here are a few pics from over the weekend.
We are starting to see more active fish with this warm weather.
It's only going to get better.

NEW LIMIT ON BURBOT
Dnr are Finally putting a limit on Burbot/ Eelpout.
We have been waiting for this moment for a while.
Since we started We have asked customers to keep 5 fish a person to protect the resources.
We have lost trips over this. Some people have gotten upset and didn't like that because there was "No Limit" on them and told me it was wrong. Most avid sportsman understood and wher ok with.

This ice fishing target is a fish of many names - burbot, eelpout, poor man's lobster, and more! 🎣

🐟 Burbot (Lota lota) are the only freshwater cod. They're shaped like an eel.

🥶 These fish love cold, deep waters - we have telemetry records of burbot going as deep as 900 feet in Lake Superior!

❄️ These fish spawn very early in the year compared to others, typically late February to March. They'll group up in massive spawning balls beneath the ice.

🌔 Their spawning behavior matches up well with ice fishing season. These fish are pretty active at night and glowing bait is sure to catch their attention.

🎣 The possession limit for burbot will be four starting Mar. 1. Check the Minnesota fishing regulations for more details.
