On June 3rd & 4th Belvidere, Illinois will once again hear the thunder of 30 draft horse six-horse hitches at the 2022 Boone County Classic Draft Horse Show featured at the Boone County Fairgrounds. This will be the largest draft horse show in the United States and Canada! Weighing in at one ton each, these Clydesdale, Percheron, and Belgian draft horses are decked out in custom crafted patent lea
ther and chrome harnesses, pulling historically restored hitch wagons. Traveling from across the nation and Canada, many of these hitches hold numerous National and World Champion titles. They will go head to head in Belvidere vying for first place and important points to qualify for the end of the year North American Six-Horse Hitch Finals. From the Single Horse Cart Class to the breathtaking Six Horse Hitches, the competition is steep! In 2021, 29 farms travelled from 15 different states and 2 Canadian Provinces to be a part of this prestigious show. Whether you stroll through the barns to watch the gentle giants prepare for competition or support the local shopping & food vendors, young and old alike are sure to have a great weekend at the Boone County Classic.
