A stronger athlete is not automatically a faster athlete.
Strength gives athletes the ability to produce more force, but speed depends on how quickly, efficiently, and in what direction that force is applied.
Newton’s third law tells us that when an athlete pushes into the ground, the ground pushes back with an equal force. That is why sprint mechanics matter. Producing a lot of force does not help nearly as much if it is being applied in the wrong direction or at the wrong time.
We want our athletes getting stronger, but we also have to teach them how to use that strength through sprinting, jumping, explosive movements, and proper mechanics.
Build the engine, then teach the athlete how to use it. 💪💨
