Rodney and Nikki Worrell of Belpre, Ohio, owners of Wired Up Electrical Services and leaders of the RNR Racing Team, are turning up the intensity for the 2026 motorsports season with an expanded racing program that builds on recent drag racing success and reintroduces stock car competition into their plans.
Alongside Rodney’s sister, Rhonda, the RNR Racing Team has spent the past several seasons focused on bracket racing, with a strong breakout year in the IHRA ProAm Drag Racing Series during the inaugural season of the newly restructured IHRA. The team recorded multiple wins and runner up finishes, quickly establishing themselves as a consistent and competitive presence.
After closely watching the direction IHRA leadership, led by Darryl Cuttell and his team, took with the revitalized drag racing series, Rodney Worrell found inspiration when IHRA announced the acquisition of a stock car series.
“Watching what IHRA did with drag racing lit the fire,” said Worrell. “When they announced the stock car series, it brought back the same excitement I had years ago racing late models and trucks. The rules are budget friendly, racer focused, and the payout structure is impressive. It was an itch I knew I had to scratch.”
From 1998 through 2003, Worrell competed in late model and truck racing in the NASCAR Winston Series, racing at tracks including Kingsport Speedway in Tennessee, New River Valley Speedway, Caraway Speedway, and Asheville Speedway in North Carolina. That experience, combined with the team’s recent drag racing momentum, made the return to circle track racing a natural next step.
Nikki Worrell was fully on board with the expanded plan, recognizing both the competitive opportunity and the business upside.
“Our partners are already seeing the value,” said Nikki Worrell. “There’s strong crossover between drag racing and stock car racing, and the IHRA schedules work extremely well together.”
Adding an extra layer of excitement to the 2026 season is RNR Racing’s youngest and most enthusiastic team member, four year old Walker J, the team’s official cheerleader and grandson of Rodney and Nikki. Walker J is excited beyond belief and already counting down the days until “his” red race car receives the full Sharx Design transformation into a Lightning McQueen inspired theme. The team jokes the build will be powered up with a little extra help from a Wired Up Electrical Services backup generator.
Sponsors including Wired Up Electrical Services, M20 Custom Machine and Fabrication, Custom Images Auto Body, and Sharx Design are already benefiting from increased exposure and cross promotion between the drag racing and stock car programs.
While the team is currently focused on drag racing and stock car competition, the Worrells are not ruling out future motorsports ventures.
“At this point there are no plans for tractor pulling, offshore boats, speed boats, or personal watercraft,” Worrell said with a laugh. “But it’s only the first week of January.”
With an aggressive 2026 schedule planned and strong support behind them, RNR Racing is poised for their most dynamic season yet.
