Stay relaxed as possible as much as possible.....

'Always point your left foot in the direction your blow is going. lf your foe moves around, keep shifting your left foot, that is always pointing at him. That is vastly important. Whenever you move forward make the first move with your left foot. Always remember to keep your feet in such a position that you will be perfectly balanced.

Keep your leg muscles relaxed until you are ready to jump in or out. Whenever you are merely 'fiddling' relax your muscles. Failure to do this is the cause of so many boxers tiring and growing leg-weary before the bout has gone very far. They keep the muscles rigid all the time - and grevous error. Rest your muscles whenever you can. Don't strain them. Have them stringy and pliant. Remember always that you must save your muscles until they are needed. Never waste an ounce of energy in useless straining.'
