In today's RideFox newsletter, a vintage picture of Bob Fox looking very much like a younger, fitter version of Wagner Moura's Pablo Escobar. Happy 50th anniversary everyone!

Ok, who are the knuckleheads who nominated Passion for this? Honored to have a the accolades for a store that closed five years ago, but if I want the plaque I have to pay $200.

Whether you're in favor of the construction of a pump track in Belmont, or opposed to it, consider showing up at the Park n Rec Commission meeting at 7pm on Wednesday February 5 and saying a few words, or just pat the backs of a few other folks who speak out that evening.

Facebook isn't the place I've been posting anything about the recent goings on in my garage. Not that I have been posting much at all, but when some project bike or bike part moves me or catches my eye, I might post it up over here:

And I'm still building some mighty fine wheels here with a few tools I couldn't part with.

For a small business on the Peninsula, attempting to pay a living wage is an impossible battle. Plenty of folks used to be able to live here on blue collar or laborers salaries. Its increasingly rare that they can anymore.

There are no photos of this bike complete and unridden. It was built in a bit of hurry so I could do one Wednesday Wride on it before packing it into the truck with the rest of the gear and family, destination Moab. In fact, this bike is still under construction as I wait on a brown leather saddle and decide if that Race Face bar is too bright for the rest of the graphics.
The graphics, by the way, come from the amazing dudes down at Stikrd.com in San Jose. I asked them to incorporate Passion's colors into an otherwise stock set of Ibis decals, and they went one step further by working Passion's wheel logo into the Fox for decals. I got exactly what I asked for, a bike that blends into my favorite trail environments.
The build isn't too fancy, but solid, quiet, simple and tailored for me. Loving it so far.

There are no longer any repair stands in the building. Suitably, Peter Donahue's bike was the last bike to come out of a stand here. With no planning on my part, and unless I fire up the register once again tomorrow (later today?) Nigel was the last customer to be rung up here, also very appropriate as both of those guys were with me from before the beginning.

I need to be completely out of this building in exactly two weeks, the last day of March. I've made good progress selling off displays and fixtures and you guys have done pretty well with clearing Passion out of the finest bicycle parts and accessories known to man. What remains in the shop isn't really so fine anymore but it's priced accordingly. The display cases have found new homes so our wares are not so carefully arranged on whatever folding tables and scraps of plywood I could muster. I'm in the shop today til 6:30 and Saturday 9:00 to 6:00 and ready to try any ploy to convince you that these parts and clothing are better off in your house than in mine. My prices will never be lower than this weekend.

I'll spend Sunday with family and then return to Passion on Monday to begin boxing merchandise up and moving it out. My Summer plan involves Craigslist and Ebay sales for remaining overstock and a couple swap meets in the Fall. I'll be in the shop most of next week but with very unpredictable hours. Shoot me an email if you'd like to meet me at the shop, but your best bet is trying to get in here today or Saturday.
