Originally organized in the late 1880’s, the Gaston County Family YMCA has upheld the remaining constant of the Christian Mission of the YMCA and the outstanding leadership provided by countless volunteers and staff. Together the YMCA of Gaston County has evolved to ensure area youth and families have the opportunity to experience the YMCA mission which is “to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.”

What does living with dementia feel like?

Yesterday, Active Older Adult participants at the Warlick Family YMCA stepped into a Dementia Live experience with Senior TLC, giving them a hands-on look at some of the sensory and communication challenges a person living with dementia may face.

It was a powerful opportunity to build empathy, understanding and connection in our community.

Fall sports are here at the Y!

Registration is now open for three ways to get kids moving, learning, and having fun this fall:

Flag Football | Ages 5–12
A recreational league focused on football fundamentals, teamwork, confidence, and skill-building. Plus, we’re offering an all-girls team for ages 10–12.

Basketball Academy | Ages 7–12
A clinic-style program for players looking to strengthen their passing, shooting, dribbling, and defense through focused practice, scrimmages, and game scenarios.

Hoop & Scoop | Ages 3–6
A fun first introduction to basketball with beginner-friendly games and skill-building. A parent or sibling aged 17+ participates alongside each child.

The McGill Family YMCA indoor pool will reopen this Monday, August 24!

Whether you’re swimming laps, joining a class, or simply looking for a way to move that feels good, we’re glad to have the indoor pool back as part of your Y experience. Check Group Ex Pro for lap lane availability and the group exercise schedule. https://groupexpro.com/schedule/875/?view=new

As we head into the final weeks of summer, the Water Park will also continue with the following late summer hours:
Friday: 4:00–7:30 p.m.
Saturday: 12:00–5:30 p.m.
