This week we lost one of our own. Brandon Zigrang was so smart, he was fast and he could throw a bomb from deep center to home plate. But most importantly Brandon was kind. He was the kind of kid you could count on, if someone was having a bad day with a few words he could turn it around. He was a little stingy with his smiles, but man, when you got one the room lit up and you smiled right along with him. I never heard him say a bad word about anyone and he was quite possibly one of the most supportive kids I had the pleasure to know. He was active in sports, FFA, and recently went to Philmont, New Mexico with Boy Scouts.

Brandon is going to be missed, his passing has left a hole not only in our dugout but also our hearts. His family has set up a t-shirt fundraiser with the proceeds going towards a memorial scholarship in Brandon’s name. We can celebrate and honor his life in this way.

Funeral services for Brandon Zigrang will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at The Red Shed Event Center, 908 2nd Street North West in Clarion with Father Jerry Blake and Deacon Dr. Michael Whitters officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at The Red Shed on Saturday.

Please know, if you ever need to talk to anyone about anything we are here for you. It doesn’t matter if you ever played directly for Steeltoes or if you ever even played ball.

All of the adults in our organization are here to make the kids we work with not only decent ball players, but good humans as well. Part of that is lending an understanding, non-judgmental ear when it’s needed.

We want to see you grow, see you succeed and see you work past any failures you may incur in life. Coach Tatin said it well: “I want to help them become men and I’d be willing to talk to any of them about any of the problems they may have.”

Growing up isn’t always easy, it isn’t always fun, and sometimes it’s incredibly hard to see past that.
