Summer ‘22 B Champs - GN-Bruins
Scoring twice in the last 40 seconds, the GN-Bruins capped a two goal 3rd period comeback to rebuff Old Core to defend their B League title. Old Core thwarted the Bruins for most of the first two periods with full sheet defense that had them ahead 3-1 into the last. The Bruins reset the game with two quick goals early third and the teams traded scores as the match seemed destined for OT. But, with 49 ticks to go, the Bruins won a defensive zone face off and Mike Schwartz buried a put back nine seconds later. Schwartz later added an empty netter. Aiden Salerno and Dylan Radin also each scored twice for the Bruins.

Be like Mike - eight minutes into OT, Mike McGowan buried his own rebound to propel the BK-Bulldogs past the Wasps 7-6 and into the D League final. Just preceding McGowan’s game winner, Bulldogs goalie Mike Giacomino made several outstanding stops including a toe blader on an unattended Wasp deep in the kitchen that launched the game winning rush. In this scintillating semifinal that saw four lead changes, McGowan scored four times and Giacomino made 33 saves.

Summer ‘22 E Champs - Executioners
Striking just 17 seconds into the game, the Executioners never looked back and put down the Ice Dogs 9-4 to capture the E League championship. The Dogs threatened late in the first narrowing to 2-1 only to see the Executioners quickly respond. Adam Discepilo (3g, 1A) and Geoff Hinde (1g, 4a) led a persistent Executioner offense that steadily built on the early lead throughout the game.

Quiet in the Storm - facing 40 shots the Bangers Kyle Erichson was cool and collected as the Bangers stymied the Stormtroopers 6-3 to advance to the D League championship. Erichson made numerous stellar saves as the ‘Troopers stormed the net in vain. Andrew Lurie paced the Bangers offense with four including the game winner.

Buckled Up - in a high scoring B League semifinal, the GN-Bruins fended off a spirited Lightning rally 10-7. For most of the game, the Bruins rode their early three goal to keep the Lightning at distance. The Lightning, however, battled and thundered to 8-7 with four to go. Weathering two prime chances to tie, the Bruins Mike Schwartz shut the door with a closing natural hat trick. Lightning Ian Friedland potted five in defat.

Heading into summer’s second half, a final nod to our Spring ‘22 champs. Each winning team received dri-fit performance shirts and a championship trophy.

Shorted - BK-Bulldogs spoil Local 3’a summer season debut scoring three times in the third to win 5-1 in D League play.

Spring ‘22 D Champs - 2G1P
Racing out to big early 6-0 lead, 2G1P quelled a Mayhem rally and captured the D League championship 10-6. 2G1P offensive outburst was spearheaded by the line of Chris DeAngelis, Rob Lynott, and Mike Pinto who collectively scored 8 of the 10 goals.

Spring ‘22 C Champs - Tremblays Pub FDL
Exploding for five goals in four minutes late in the second, Tremblays Pub broke away from the Nassau Nordiques to gran the C championship 9-2. The game deciding scoring outburst was spurned by Eric Sukoff and Peter Labos who each potted two. With the victory, Tremblays avenged a title game loss to the Nordiques in the previous Winter ‘22 season.

Moses in the House - Joe Alterman threads a long distance seam pass to Mike Pinto in 2G1P’s 7-3 D League win over the Bruisers. 2G1P improved to 6-0 and remained undefeated in their natty new threads.

White Walled - paying particular attention to minding the kitchen, No Dekes suffocated the Wolverines allowing only an early goal en route to a 6-1 E League win.
