First tournament of the season is officially in the books for our 13U MudBoyz!

We finished Saturday pool play 1-1, placing 4th and earning a spot in the Gold Bracket at the Berto Memorial Classic.

Today didn’t go the way we wanted, as we took an early exit in bracket play after a hard-fought loss to a tough Blacksox team.

Not every weekend ends with hardware, but every weekend gives us something to build on. We know what we need to work on, and it’s time to get back to practice, put in the work, and come back stronger.

Nothing given. All earned. 💪🏾💛💙⚾️

💥FIRST OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT AS 13U MUDBOYZ!💥

This weekend, the MudBoyz officially hit the field for our first tournament of the 13U season — and we couldn’t think of a better way to start than at the Berto Memorial Classic.

We’re honored to take the field this weekend and to be part of a tournament that brings the baseball community together for something bigger than the game!

New age group. New season. Same MudBoyz. 💥

Nothing given, all earned!! Let’s go to work boyz!! 💪🏾

This one is different. This one is personal.

This game has a way of turning strangers into friends and those friends into family.

Berto was family.

His passing is a loss that reaches far beyond the baseball community. He impacted countless players, coaches, parents, and friends, and if you were lucky enough to know him, you know exactly the kind of man he was.

For all the times Berto showed up for others, it’s our turn to show up for him.

With Amanda’s blessing, we are honored to host The Berto Memorial Classic on August 22-23. Every dollar raised will go directly to Amanda and the girls to help support them during this incredibly difficult time.

⚾ Baseball & Fastpitch Divisions
📅 August 22-23, 2026

Baseball is already live on both the Worm Burner and USSSA websites. Fastpitch is live on the Worm Burner website now and will be available on the USSSA website tomorrow.

We’ll also be hosting a silent auction throughout the weekend. If you or your business would like to donate an item, service, or gift certificate, we’d be incredibly grateful. Every donation helps.

We know no tournament, fundraiser, or amount of money can ever replace Berto or take away the pain of losing him. But together, we can help ease some of the burden on the people he loved most.

Now we’re asking each and everyone of you to do what this select community does so well at—come together.

Register your team. Invite another team. Share this post. Bid in the silent auction. Volunteer if you’re able. Help us fill the ballparks and show Amanda and the girls just how many lives Berto touched.

We already have two complexes committed and are actively working to secure at least one more because we believe this weekend is going to be something truly special.

There are many more details to come, and we’ll be looking for volunteers to help make this weekend everything Berto deserves.

Let’s honor his life the way he lived it—surrounded by the game he loved and the people who loved him. ❤️

On behalf of the entire MudBoyz Baseball Organization, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Dallas Tigers organization and the family and friends of Alberto Lopez.

Alberto was always a welcoming face at the Worm Burner tournaments, where he served as a tournament director, when not coaching his team.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who knew and loved him during this difficult time. Thank you for everything you did for the game. You will be deeply missed.
