Rock Solid Kenpo Jiu Jitsu ‘The Art of Self Defense’
Rock Solid Martial Arts · Bellingham, Washington
Bellingham’s number one self-defense training center
Building Strong, Powerful, and Confident Students
Rock Solid Kenpo Jiu Jitsu teaches that Margin for Error is this:
To Hammer, Whip, Thrust, Maneuver, and Be Neutral in such a way as to allow for the possibility of a mistake.
That is not a slogan. That is how real self-defense is built.
@
Violence is messy.
People miss.
Distances change.
Timing slips.
The opponent does not follow the ideal phase.
Skip’s teaching is that your motion must still work when things go wrong, because they will.
His Decision Tree for Margin for Error is the map we train:
• The Dominant Eye leads and the rest will follow
• The Dominant Leg is always your Gauging Leg
• Control Distance / Anchor your Buttocks
• Targets: Minimize / Get Out of the Line of Attack / Neutralize
• Base: Mobilize, Solidify, or Stabilize
• Anchor your Elbows
• The Dominant Arm Dominates
• The Non-Dominant Arm is your Helper
Senior Grandmaster Skip Hancock puts it plainly: we create margin for error by the way we move.
If the first idea does not land, the principles of motion are still working.
You are not frozen.
You are not hoping.
You are still in the fight with a usable next action.
That is what Rock Solid Kenpo Jiu Jitsu teaches.
We do not train students to be perfect under pressure.
We train them to move so that a mistake does not become a disaster.
Hammer, Whip, Thrust, Maneuver, Be Neutral, with enough room left that when reality is ugly, you still have a path.
Strong. Powerful. Confident.
Not because nothing ever goes wrong.
Because you are trained for the moment it does.
