Those darn wizards don't deserve the wands I bought them. At least the speakers look cool.

Had fun tinkering with these. I think it's always fun to tinker with stuff and try things yourself. That's part of the hobby. Replacing caps in crossovers is pretty hit or miss as to whether you actually notice a difference in the sound. I want to learn more about speaker design as time allows...

This integrated amplifier worked when I received it but had very dirty controls and the owner wanted it to last another 50 years. Turns out that most of the caps were well out of spec and some were in dire need of replacement. The restoration cost the client around $900 when I did it in 2025 but my rates are higher now. I think I could do this work in about 15 hours.

In this video I do a full electrical rebuild on a Pioneer SX 1250 that was working but hurting in a few ways while also fixing up some of the cosmetics. This was my first 1250 and I’m grateful for the special guest who came to help me align the tuner. The stabilizer/power supply on these units tends to have quite a few failed parts on it from heat even if they are working still and this one was no exception.
I did my best to show replacement of a variety of parts and talked a bit about transistor substitution.
This repair cost the client around $3000 and took me 25-30 hours or so.

Thrifting with Aidan was fun! He was in town for a day so we got to hang out a little bit. Super fun getting to go thrifting together. You best believe we were chatting about stereos non stop haha. If you aren't familiar with Aidan, he has a great YouTube channel where he posts about stereo repairs but has also just started posting on Facebook and instagram. Check him out! But be warned...he loves power washing things so you may encounter some jarring content 😉

The previous tech did some weird stuff with this one! I sold this locally and restored it for the client. One of the easier to work on Marantzs I've seen. This sold for $2400.

Those meter inserts took me forever to get made haha. I still enjoyed this restoration and it was fun to make custom parts though!
The client paid around $1300 for this work.
