Wrapping up Walla Trails and Community on a golden note felt really good last Saturday. Sure, the larches were lime-green-gold but the runners and volunteers made up for it. 💛✨

I am honored to have long-time PNW photographer Takao Suzuki shoot the last Walla Trails race. I have worked with so many talented and amazing photographers the past 12 years, and Takao is one of the most talented + kind and humble souls in the community. Period.

Another honor is having take over Golden 6 Hour in 2027. Lauro and I have gotten to know one another this past year and their passion for community and inclusion is perfect for this beautiful loopy event + being super upbeat, ready to dance, and have fun. 🎉

What now? I am working on summing up my experience as one woman operation and race director, and it's taking form like a report card for myself - what I did well and where I made missteps. I am not sure if or when I'll share but it's been a good way for me to reflect.

This fall is going to be extra golden. 💛

Walla Trails and Community is partnering with to bring back The Golden 6 Hour VIRTUAL, and starting in 2027, Cielo Running will host *both* the in-person and virtual Golden 6 Hour.

Much more to come but for now, we are just excited to share as Walla Trails comes to a close and continues to soar.

WALLA WALLA 6 HOUR PHOTO ARE READY and did an incredible job capturing Walla Trails and Community's last year hosting this all women's event in Walla Walla.

The energy from volunteers and partners was amazing on April 11. A special shout out to the & for bringing the fun at the aid station, for the coveted hats, for the beautiful medals, and to local partners for their donations and support for the past 6 years.

Walla Trails and Community/Gretchen Walla have the honor of sharing that Walla Walla 6 Hour will continue under local race director Shannon Hoehna with - Shannon rearranged her spring break plans to help on race day, and showed she is the perfect person to take over. Shannon knew many runners, volunteers, and local partners and was gracious with her conversations while still jumping into action on multiple fronts.

All and all, it could not have been a better day to transition Walla Walla 6 Hour to its new home.
