To our Martial Arts Community, friends and family:
June 16th, 2023, Grand Master Bill Hulsey was incidentally diagnosed with Squamous Cell Lung Cancer. He had gone to the doctor for unrelated symptoms June 4th. July 19th, 2023 we found out it was stage 4. This was another shock to us as well as his doctors because he is actually very healthy. We are very grateful for this incidental diagnosis though because although stage 4, it has only spread throughout the lungs and not to any other organs.
This advanced stage means there is no cure, however, Grand Master Bill is working with his oncology team on a treatment plan that will include giving him more time with us and managing his cancer and symptoms. We remain hopeful as he prepares to start chemotherapy and immunotherapy on July 31st.
This information is still incredibly new and overwhelming for him and for our family. At this time we ask that you please respect his privacy. He is very fatigued and is focusing on spending time with his wife, Lori, his children and grandchildren. Once he is feeling up to calls and texts, I will definitely let you know.
For now, please keep him in your prayers and/or thoughts. I will also happily share comments and/or messages with him. I will also share updates with you all here as well.
