In a testament to the depth of the roster, a short-handed Marlins took care of business this past Sunday by clamping down on The Ho***rs 10-6. That makes for two Ho***rs victories this season. A showdown for first place vs. The Chiefs scheduled for tonight appears to be cancelled due to inclement weather so we'll just have to continue taking care of business until then.

Highlights of the game:

1. A completely revamped infield overcame some early struggles and managed to play a solid game in the infield. Jacobs even managed to snag a pop up and field a ground ball cleanly for a rally ending out.

2. John "psycho" Lynch had one of the most impressive catches in history with a Willie Mays Hayes "over the shoulder" catch which resulted in double play and ended an early scoring attempt for the Ho***rs.

3. After being robbed several times before, Glick finally broke lose with a massive 3 run homer. That capped a 2 out barrage of runs that was preceded by Jacobs running from first to home on 2 errors after Cohen hit the crap out of a ball that went a whopping 2 feet but was dropped by the catcher.

4. B-Stuart was back on the mound after a few shaky outings and pitched great....the confidence is back baby.

All in all a great game considering the weather and short bench. While a Ho***rs picture would be great my choices on Google images are limited and due to the clean nature of this group (and prior scandals) I'll pass on that. But I have petitioned the Kensico Dam to inscribe certain founding fathers of the Marlins...enjoy!

Amazing what 2 weeks can do for a team - after a demoralizing loss, we had back to back wins including a bone crushing "mercy" victory last night over the (Krusty) Krabs 18-4, the team that mocked us on New Castle Now 5 years ago. To quote The Godfather, "we settled all family business" last night. We are now 5-1 and looking solid with 33 runs scored over the last 2 weeks.

Although the fielding and hitting was stellar up and down the lineup this week's Bobby Sue's Nuts Player of the Week award goes to "Robby Bobby" Hyman for getting things started with a booming bases loaded "Chappaqua Triple" - otherwise known as a double with a throwing error that allowed us to score another run and have him get to third base.

Iron Mike Topiel was a rock at SS and set a new personal best time by getting his jersey dirty 11 seconds into the game.

Primetime Glick was robbed on a few monster bombs otherwise the game would have been called earlier.

Reports are coming in that at least 8 car insurance claims were filed this morning as a result of the countless number of foul balls that Andrew Cornelius Bourne roped onto Greeley Avenue.

Next game is Sunday morning at 11 am vs. The Ho***rs at Rec Field followed by a Tuesday night game against the currently undefeated Chiefs.

Don't forget to follow us on Twitter We've gotten a few new followers this week including Joe's Stone Crabs out of Miami for all of our "Krab" tweets this week. I'm predicting one million followers by the end of the season. We've currently got 22 followers so we're getting close....

And of course a big shout out to Quaker Hill Tavern - The Krusty Krab doesn't hold a flame to our favorite post-game watering hole.

In flashbacks of our inaugural days, the Marlins came crashing back down to earth with an epic loss 19-6 against the Water Buffaloes - coincidentally, the same team that gave us our historic 30-3 thrashing in our first ever game in B league. We were "mercied" in the 7th inning, a feat not accomplished since season 1. Although everybody played generally awful, a special shout out goes to the previously stellar Brad Stuart who did his best Stevie Wonder impression on the mound and Adam Glick who showed that perhaps he does in fact have two left feet and a large hole in his glove. Jacobs once again fails to hit the ball out of the infield despite getting the first official RBI of the game while being down 11-0 after the 2nd inning.

Designated hitters Lee Anchin and Timothy Chizak were the lone bright spots at the plate thereby garnering them the Bobby Sue's Nuts co-players of the game. In their post game press conference, when asked if the award was meaningless in defeat, they responded in unison "For who, for what...don't blame us for the rest of those losers who couldn't do squat. We'll take our Nuts and enjoy the moment"

Fear not Marlins fans, we have a quick turnaround with games on Sunday and Tuesday and there is no doubt that we will right the ship.

Next game is Sunday at 9:45 at Millwood Park vs. The Ho***rs.

He's baaaaack! John "psycho" Lynch was a one man wrecking crew knocking in six runs as the Marlins win 8-3 to go to 3-0 on the season. Stuart pitches another gem and our overall defense was clutch but it was lynch who stole the show and claims player of the game honors. Confidence is off the charts right now. Giddy up Marlins.

In their week 2 matchup, the Marlins continued their hot streak by taking down the Ho***rs 4-2 on a hot and muggy Sunday morning. Although I wasn't at the game my Inside Chappaqua reporting team gave me a recap:

1. Stuart, once again, pitched lights out giving up no earned runs.

2. Strauss, after management threatened to trade him to The Thunder for a case of beer and a bucket of wings from Quaker, finally showed up and stepped up. (For the record, The Thunder were only willing to part with the wings)

3. Glick played the outfield like....well, like he often does.

4. Evan.....ditto re: #3.

5. This week's unsung hero and Bobby Sue's Nuts Player of The Week award goes to Matt Cohen. After likely nearly being ejected from the game on 6 different occasions for wising off, M-Co had a solid hit and run to solidify the win. Although reports are that he was upset that his Juicy sweat pants got dirty. Well worth it buddy.

But in the end the win wouldn't have been complete without an appearance by Paul "Blue" Rowan. Like a Lynn McKay 5 am wake up call, there is simply no escaping him.

Next game is tomorrow night at 6:30 at Gedney Park vs. The Wings. Jonathan Chester Lynch will make his much anticipated season debut while Andrew Cornelius Bourne will be attending so called "other obligations"

Let's make it 3 in a row.

Victory!

Victory!

04/29/2015

The first game is in the books and the Marlins rolled to their first ever B league victory by a score of 8-3.

The rust was evident for the first few innings with a few early errors and the only "real" hit coming from Tour De Chappaqua cycling legend Timothy Chizak. After being down 2-0 the bats came alive in the 4th inning and we put 4 on the board. The Raptors cut the lead to 4-3 but then "Iron Mike" Topiel threw his entire 140 pound frame into a swing and ripped a 2 out single to extend the lead to 5-3. The intensity on Tope's face after the hit was akin only to the feeling of rage that one gets after realizing that they forgot to remove their car magnets before going through a car wash. A few late runs sealed the game and the beer and wings were flowing at Quaker Hill. His clutch performance earned Topes the Week 1 "Bobby Sue's Nuts" Player Of The Game award.

A shout of to Big Brad Stuart who not only pitched a gem and worked his way out of a few tense moments, he helped his own cause with a bomb for a double (which made up for his not being able to run to first base in time to stop the first ever softball double play).

Next game is Sunday at 11 am vs. The Ho***rs at Millwood field. See you there.

Great first practice today - no rust on these stellar athletes. Tim Chizak with a rare display of power seen only in an A- Rod-esque secret "training" facility. And of course the unveiling of the new jerseys!

04/07/2015

Our season opener is Tuesday, April 21st - don't miss out as The Marlins expect to get off to a hot start and surpass their entire win total from their inaugural season in the B league. Any fan who can produce a ticket stub from our 30-3 inaugural B league drubbing in 2011 qualifies for a photo shoot and jersey signing with star infielders Jonathan Neil Strauss and Michael Topiel - jerseys sold separately and are available at Gap Kids and The Children's Place.

Our full schedule will be posted as soon as it's released.

Our first practice is this Sunday at 8:30 am @ Greeley. Our new uniforms will be unveiled along with Jacobs' new softball glove (which is guaranteed to improve his shoddy fielding by .0001%).

If you're lucky, we may even do some "Where are They Now" features on the fate of some former Marlins.

As an incentive, the first 20 people who "like" our page will be eligible for a Tim Chizak bobble-head doll, a collector's item like no other.
