Unfortunately, I'm moving my daughter into school in CA the weekend of RTR, so it will have to be an "informal" gathering, rather than official event. Couldn't find anyone foolish enough to take over.
I encourage everyone to show up at 9 AM at Newcastle Beach Park on September 15th and paddle Round the Rock!
Hopefully next year we can officially reboot (I need help though!).

🚨The Pacific NW paddle community is unstoppable! The SUP, Prone, Outrigger, Kayak and SurfSki communities are invited to join an unsanctioned paddle meet-up this Sunday at Newcastle Beach Park in Bellevue WA at 9AM. See you on the water!

Monster and Sea ......................

2017 looks to be the year of the community. A meet up, a paddle and BBQ potluck. Keeping the sprit of friends gathering to tell stories and enjoy a paddle alive.

A few specifics:
1) 9 a.m. Start ready to paddle out from Newcastle Beach Park (same place as last year) - Locals tip: Car pool and don't leave your valuables in the car.
2) If you want to go fast - find your group and let it rip.
3) If you just want to challenge yourself to go around the island - find your crew and go for it.
4) Bring food and hang out after
On the safety side of things: This is friends gathering to go for a paddle. No sanction stuff etc. Know your limits and look after your buddy.

One last thing:
Please still consider donating to Strong Against Cancer And there will also be a pass the hat to see if we can fill an envelope along the way. Pass it along.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: It is with a heavy heart that we announce that the 9th Annual Round the Rock is canceled. Lack of sponsorship and rising expenses to put on our beloved event in a safe and fun manner has made it unsustainable this year. We will be refunding all paid entry and exhibitor fees.

We do encourage those who are so inclined to use September 10th as a day to challenge yourself with a distance paddle.

We also encourage everyone to still donate to Strong Against Cancer, an initiative by Seattle Children’s Hospital Research Foundation for battling pediatric cancer. Fundraising proceeds that we’ve collected will be donated to this tremendous cause.

We hope to find a corporate partner to assist with Round the Rock and be back in August of 2018! Thanks for everyone’s support and participation these last 8 years. We’ve all created a lot of great (and challenging) memories! Supthemag SUP Racer Standup Journal
