It was a great day on the lanes for our young Lady Eagles bowling team! The team is comprised of 2 juniors and 3 8th graders, with only one of those back from last season.
Bellaire first beat a shorthanded Boyne City team 28-2, before falling to host Rogers City 21-9.
Against Boyne, newcomer Penelope McDaniel, after just two practices total, had 138-137 to lead the way, and Camille Redlowsk bowled a 111.
In the second match, McDaniel was high again at 130, Kendra Schuette bowled a 120, and Chloe Rosemen added a 115.
“I could not be more proud of these girls. We haven’t had a practice yet with all five, but to see the potential that’s there for this team is very exciting! We hit all of our goals today. We were competitive, learned a lot, and had fun doing it!”
Thank you to all for the support!
The girls and boys JV team will be back in action next Saturday at Grayling.

The Mancelona High School varsity softball team just could not get anything going against the powerful 17-3 Johannesburg-Lewiston squad as they dropped both ends of their double header in mercy rule losses, 17-2 and 19-4 this past Monday night in Johannesburg.
In game one, Payton Derrer singled, Lucy Griffore doubled and Bree Musall singled both runners’ home in the top of the fourth inning to break up the shutout, but the host Cardinals were already ahead 11-0 entering the inning. Joburg would score six runs in the bottom of the inning to win 17-2. Taylor Belongia had the Ironmen’s only other hit as the Cardinals outhit Mancelona 16-4 in the opener.
