Just finished another "local school". These are one on one and I really got to know my student. He's a great guy who was intense but was fun to teach. Started on Sunday because he had to work on Friday. Did a half day to Tuesday and on Thursday. I getting to really enjoy these classes. Flexible for me and my students.

For years I have had local golfers/wannabe golfers talk to me about my schools. However, most of you work or have commitments that make it hard to take off 4-5 days. This Spring I created a "local" school which basically covers all the same things as my regular schools. However I can spread it out over 10 days including weekends and students stay at home and meet me for each lesson. It covers 20+ hours, but doesn't include meals, lodging and extras. It is a flat fee of $1500. I have already taught 2 of the schools and another one starting Sunday. The feedback has been very positive. So far, I have had students from Rogers, Fayetteville and the next one is from Fort Smith.

Master's Sunday did not disappoint. My Irishman, Rory Mcllroy, joined the only other 3 to win back to back Master's. Now there are 4. Incredible final 9. Congratulations and thanks, Rory

For years I posted St. Patrick's Day sayings and then life changed and I stopped doing that. Today I plan to start again. So here's this years--slightly modified to fit this page.

" May the winds of fortune always blow behind you,
May it give you a birdie or three,
May it always be the other guy
Who says, "this drink's on me."

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY to one and all.

So one of the big questions on tour right now is "should tour professionals be allowed to use range finders?" What do you think? I'll tell you my answer after I have read some of yours.

I have a request. I have just done some upgrading and changes to my website. I would appreciate if some of you would be willing to go check it out and let me know what you think of it. Any suggestions to better it would also be appreciated. Since Squarespace doesn't have an option for direct reviews, I have created a student comment page. So if any of you want to make a comment, just send it to me and I will post it with only your first name. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I admit it, I do get bored. After almost 28 years running The Inn and teaching golf downtime was something with which I wasn't familiar. Add the snow and super cold weather and I am bored. So I decided to go back and look at emails, texts and letters from the past. One of them put me in tears because it was so powerful. I want to share part of it with you. I have intentionally left out anything that might identify my former student. Here's the gist of what she wrote. "I found the binder from my golf camp with you in 2009. I had fun looking through the photos of my swing and the suggestions you made to improve it. I am really enjoying golf and am thankful for the foundation I have." She got married and her husband loves golf and they golf together a lot. There are other things but they are personal so I won't write them. If it in quotes, they direct quotes. "Thanks for all that you did to advance my game, I sure am grateful to be a golfer.

I was asked recently how I handle winter weather when you can't be outside--practicing or teaching. First, practicing. I have a variety of drills that can be done inside and I use them. I am also trying new ones to see if I can use them with students. Those of you who have been to my school and, hopefully still have your workbooks, have access to some of those drills.

Secondly, teaching. Because I love teaching golf--it's my passion--I am always looking and studying what might make me a better teacher. I do have to say that a lot of YouTube videos shock me--especially the 5 minute fixes. But I watch and I read, primarily so I know what to fix this upcoming season.

Finally, I try to learn things that might help my students. For instances, I just finished 3 online classes with Titleist University dealing with irons and wedges. I also spend time every day learning more about The Rules of Golf. BTW, if you are interested, the USGA has a beginner's course, online and it's free.

Add my love of wildlife--birds, deer, etc. I stay busy. Hope to see some of you this Spring. Stay warm and be careful.

Over the years I have been blessed with many of you attending one of my schools and then recommending me to many of your friends and family. I have always been very appreciative of you for that (among other things). I wanted to do something to thank you, but because the Inn basically ate up everything I made, it wasn't meant to be. While I am still not living high, I have decided I can doing something. So here's the next change. If you refer a new student to me, I will give you a $100.00 credit. You can use the credit towards another school for yourself or give it to someone you refer. If you refer two or more in the same group, after the first one, I will give you $50.00 credit for each.

For those of you who have been so supportive over the years, I can't go back and make this deal for the past. However, I am offering each of you a one time $200.00 credit for you to use anyway that works for you. While I know many of you, when I left the Inn my reservation system disappeared into never neverland. So please contact me and remind me of your support. Use my email: [email protected].

I wish I could be more generous but it's a small way of saying "Thank you". HAPPY NEW YEAR to one and all.

Okay, neighbor is taken care of. I have decided to offer a couple of options on lodgings. I based my pricing on 2 students in each unit even though one of the bedrooms has twin beds so it could handle 3 comfortably. This cover the actual rental fee and I take care of the cleaning fee. So here are the options. 1. The price will remain the same and I will take care of the lodging. 2. I will offer a $200.00 discount for each student and they will be responsible for finding their own lodging. 3. Couples will receive a $200.00 discount for each for a total of $400.00. 4. Private students will receive a $250.00 discount and have the choice of finding their own lodging or staying in my guestroom. It is only big enough for one with a private bath.

There are a couple of things you need to understand. I have a schedule and you have to be ready to start learning on time. That creates a problem if you stay in Bentonville because of traffic and distance. I will be willing to pick you up for your classes, range work and course work if needed.

I am looking for comments, suggestions or questions.

So, last year I tried Airbnbs and found that wasn't working very well. In August of 2024, a tree fell on my new house and it took almost 5 months to get it repaired. I couldn't live there some of the time, so I rented a timeshare apartment at The Greens One. They were built about the same time as The Inn so they are dated. The outside shows their age but the grounds are well maintained and the inside of each unit is maintained and kept very clean and nice. They are located at the course where I teach and where we play. So I arranged with the management to use them for my students. They are 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen and living room with a laundry room. The feedback from my students was pretty positive. And it is about 2 miles from my new home. Feel free to check out their website.

I'm going to have to finish this afternoon. I just got a call that requires my attention for the next hour or so.
