THE LEGENDS BACKYARD CONTINUES... 🌀

What a week! We are still buzzing from the incredible display of grit at this year’s Legends Backyard Ultra.

🔥 Lukasz Wrobel proved once again why he’s a titan of the backyard, successfully defending his title with a massive 114 yards.
🤝 Huge respect to Oriol Antoli Sarrau, whose relentless performance as the assist pushed the pace and the limits of human endurance.

The depth of talent this year was staggering: 4 runners crossed the 100-yard mark and 10 surpassed 75 yards. Not only was the leaderboard packed, but the history books were rewritten—we saw new National Records for Spain, Slovakia, Mexico, Finland, and Norway, plus a tie for the National Record of The Netherlands! 🌍 Add to that the numerous personal bests that were achieved, and we couldn't be happier with the results.

We all remember Lukasz’s historic 116-yard run in 2025 that shook the world. While Phil Gore has since pushed that bar even higher, the fire is lit. The question on everyone’s mind: Will 2027 be the year the World Record returns to the Legends course? 👑

📈 At-Large List Update! 🏃‍♂️💨

The dust has settled at Legends Backyard Belgium, and while the Silver Ticket remains unclaimed (no Belgian winner this time), the impact on the National Team standings is massive!

We are thrilled to welcome three powerhouse runners to the At-Large List for the World Team Championships. Their performance in Retie has shaken up the rankings:

🥇 Bert Verbist – 74 yards

🥈 Jelle Tielemans – 68 yards

🥉 Lieven Pandelaers – 65 yards

These incredible totals put them in a very strong position to represent Belgium in the World Team Championships this October!

📍 Meanwhile, in Spa... The 'Until the End' backyard is currently underway! 🌲 Given the brutal elevation of the Spa loops, we don’t expect many shifts in the At-Large List (those 65 yards are hard to beat on those hills!). However, the stakes are still sky-high because a Silver Ticket is guaranteed for the winner. 🎫

After 114 loops, the Legends Backyard finally came to an end.

Lukasz took the win, completing 114 loops and claiming victory for the second year in a row, while Oriol was unable to complete the final hour and secured the assist.

While the world record remains untouched, what we have witnessed here is nothing short of exceptional.
Because going this deep into a backyard is never guaranteed, and every loop beyond 100 is already a testament to resilience, patience and mental strength.

Loop after loop, hour after hour, this race delivered everything we love about the sport, from the highs to the struggles, from the quiet moments to the shared energy around the course.

This incredible event is now behind us, but the memories, the atmosphere and the people who made it happen will stay with us.
Retie once again delivered. 🔥

100 YARDS. 3 LEGENDS STILL STANDING. NO END IN SIGHT. 🌍🔥

The world is watching as the Legends Backyard Ultra reaches the point of pure impossibility. Out of the titans who started, only three remain standing after 100 grueling yards.

THE LAST STAND:
• .geerts.ultraloper : His 5th time reaching the 100-yard milestone. Absolute mastery.
• : An incredible 3rd time hitting 100 in just one year.
• : The defending champ enters the triple digits for the 2nd time.

The format is simple: Run until there is only one.

100 yards down. Currently in yard 103. Who has one more loop left in the soul? 🏃‍♂️💨

Over 82 loops in, back into the night loop and the field has been reduced to just 8 runners.

An interesting detail: all of them were present at the World Championships at Big’s, except for .vandekerckhove1981 Vandekerckhove, who was last year’s second assist here with 115 loops, but was unable to compete there due to injury.
Experience is clearly not lacking.

Five of the eight runners have already gone beyond 100 loops before, which raises the question… can they do it again this time, and will they be able to welcome the other three into this very exclusive club?

As the night settles in and temperatures drop, the race once again enters a phase where patience, strategy and resilience will make all the difference.
The coming hours will bring clarity.
And possibly… a few surprises. 🌙

Between loop 61 and 71, and again this morning, the Backyard has claimed more runners.

Six athletes, from different countries, saw their race come to an end. Every single one of them managed to improve their personal best, which says everything about the level and determination out here.

And for Verneri, the race brought something even more, as a new national Finnish record was set before making the difficult but wise decision to stop due to injury.
A reminder that in a Backyard, knowing when to stop is sometimes just as important as knowing how to continue.

Only 12 runners remain.
Twelve athletes still standing.
Twelve stories still unfolding.

From here on, every loop matters even more.Every decision carries weight and the margins become razor thin.
