⚾️Umping Shortage⚾️

We all know the pains of umping shortages—if you play the game, coach the game, and even sitting outside of the fence. We all feel it!

We are very appreciative of the umpires we do have and this past week is showed us something special.

We have a pair of boys who recently aged out of MCR and moved onto greener pastures and now excelling in schoolball as well as other sports. We’ve watched these boys grow through our program over the past years and excel into such phenomenal athletes.

We struggled to find umpires this season and turned our attention to asking colleges, high schools, and middle schools, friends of friends, and so much more. But… I am so glad we did! We have these two boys covering games for us and doing a phenominal job! It’s a full circle moment for the program to have the youth we onced coached and watch grow, back in the program and now giving back to the younger generations of Cal Ripken Baseball.

Chase and Bennett, you both are rockstars and MCR is very thankful for both of you and so happy to see you guys in our diamond again!

What an incredible Opening Ceremonies night for Messalonskee Cal Ripken! ⚾🎉

We want to send a huge THANK YOU to all of the families, players, coaches, volunteers, and supporters who came out and made it such a special and successful evening. The energy at the field was amazing, and seeing so many kids smiling, laughing, and having fun is exactly what this program is all about.

A special thank you to Lee May Jr. for throwing out our ceremonial first pitch and helping us kick off the season in a memorable way!

Thank you as well to the Messalonskee High School Master Singers for an outstanding performance of the National Anthem — it was a great way to start the night.

From the raffle table, to the games and activities, to the great food and community support — it was a night to remember. The kids had an absolute blast and stayed active late into the evening enjoying every minute of it!

To everyone who bought raffle tickets, grabbed food from concessions, participated in the activities, or simply came to support — thank you. Every dollar raised goes right back into our program to continue creating opportunities and experiences for our players.

This is what community baseball is all about. Here’s to a great 2026 season! 💙⚾🦅

Messalonskee Cal Ripken is looking for umpires for the upcoming season for both our Minors and Majors divisions!

If you know the game, want to stay involved in baseball, and are looking to make some extra cash, we’d love to have you on the field this season.
