Backpack Montana Elk Hunt - Rifle /November/ 4 Days.

Headed to the Backcountry with a good buddy of mine and this is the load out. Some newer gear in here for me, and a lot of time tested favorites that also were on the sheep hunt earlier this year.

Key elements staying the same:
-Exo Pack, goes on every hunt. This is a K4x frame I've ran over 30 days now and it's awesome. Running the usual 5000 pack on it with orange lid.
-Zulu 6 Binos + Kowa 55a + Vantage Pan Head + Backcountry Lite Tripod + Epoch Mountain Mag for the Optics setup.
-Clothing system is nearly identical to sheep hunt.
-Food, cook, and water setup the same.
-Possibles Pouch has all the same gear.

New Gear/ Additions
-Hot tent. Never done this before but the long night and cool temps in Nov. Made me want to give it a try. Absaroka 4P from Argali.
-Thermarest Neoloft Pad. Heaviest pad i've ever carried but man is it comfortable.
- Puffy Pants and Gloves for the colder temps and long glassing sessions.

First hunt with my firstborn, this is what it's all about.

My boy went out with me for an antelope tag I drew (I put in for it cause it was close to town so he could join!) and he showed some true grit! It's not supposed to snow 2 inches and be 29 degrees for your first hunt! But he stayed positive and we got to spend two amazing days together looking for antelope. I'll never forget this one with him, and hopefully it's the beginning of something we will always be able to bond over.
