When I started Doc’s Custom Crankbaits back in 2014, I made myself a promise that I’d never get on Facebook and make a post asking people to buy something just to support my business.
And I’m still not going to do that.
But I am going to be honest with you all.
The off-season can be tough for a small business like ours. There are times when things slow down, the orders aren’t coming in as consistently, and you start wondering what else you can do to keep moving forward.
It can be frustrating and discouraging. When you put so much time, money, and heart into something, it’s hard not to feel the weight of those slower seasons.
We aren’t a big tackle company with a huge marketing budget. We’re a small, family-run business that takes pride in every bait that goes out the door. Every color we create, every lure we paint, and every package we ship has a piece of us in it.
I’m not writing this looking for sympathy, and I’m certainly not asking anyone to spend money they don’t have.
I’m writing it because sometimes social media makes running a small business look a whole lot easier than it actually is.
If you’ve ever purchased from us, shared a post, sent us a picture of a fish caught on our baits, recommended us to a friend, or even just followed along, I want you to know how much that means to our family. Seriously, it means more than you know.
We’re not throwing in the towel. Not even close.
We’re going to keep painting, creating, trying new things, and finding ways to bring you products we’re proud of. We’re going to keep showing up and doing everything we can to earn your business.
I just wanted to pull back the curtain a little bit and be real with you all. Behind every small business is a family putting in the work, riding out the slow seasons, and hoping the next big thing is just around the corner.
Thank you for being part of our journey and for helping us keep doing what we love. ❤️
