🥋 Thank You for Celebrating 27 Years with Us! ❤️

This past Saturday, September 12th, we had the great honor and joy of celebrating the 27th Anniversary Open House of Chung’s Martial Arts.

It was truly a special day filled with smiles, laughter, connection, and gratitude. We were blessed to have so many of our students, parents, families, friends, and neighbors come together to celebrate with us. Seeing everyone enjoying time together reminded us once again that Chung’s Martial Arts is much more than a place to train—it is a family and a community.

We are deeply grateful to each and every one of you for your continued support and for giving us the opportunity to do what we love most: teaching martial arts, building character, bringing families together, and making a positive difference in the lives of our students.

A very special thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers who gave their time and energy to help with setup, preparation, serving hot dogs, keeping everything organized, and cleaning up afterward. Your kindness and willingness to help made the day even more meaningful. We could not have done it without you!

Most of all, we give all glory and thanks to God for blessing us with beautiful weather, a successful celebration, and the opportunity to share such a wonderful day together. 🙏

For 27 years, we have been incredibly blessed to serve our community, and we look forward to continuing this journey together for many more years to come.

🎒 Back-to-School Party! 🥋

Our Back-to-School Party was a great success! We had an awesome evening filled with fun, excitement, and great memories together.

A big thank you to all of our students who continued training, working hard, and staying committed throughout the summer. We hope you had a wonderful summer and are ready for a new school year filled with learning, growth, and new achievements!

As you head back to school, remember to stay healthy, stay focused, work hard, and always believe in yourself. The same confidence, discipline, and perseverance you develop in martial arts can help you succeed in the classroom and beyond.

And most importantly, thank you to all of our parents and families for your continued support and trust. We are grateful for the opportunity to teach martial arts, build confidence and character, and make a positive difference in the lives of our students.

🥋 August Belt Testing Complete! 🥋

Congratulations to all of our students who tested this month!

We’re proud of the hard work, focus, and perseverance everyone showed as they demonstrated their skills and took another step forward in their martial arts journey.

Every new belt represents hours of practice, challenges overcome, and continued growth both inside and outside the dojang.

Great job to everyone who tested, and thank you to all of our families for supporting our students along the way!

The following message was originally shared by Master Matt of our Chung's Martial Arts Forest Hill location. We believe it is important enough to share with our entire Chung’s Martial Arts community.

This is a post I wish I didn't have to make and have struggled for the past two weeks whether or not to post it. I'm sure that many of you have seen this story. What you may not know is that the girl attacked was one of our Black Belt competition fighters. As you know, our little school is like a family, and I was so angry and upset that this could happen to a student that I care for and have trained for years- someone who is one of the most helpful, hard-working, and kind-hearted kids I have ever taught. Of course, my first reaction was to wish I could have been there to give this monster the hardest head kick I have ever thrown. But the hard truth we protective adults need to face is that we won't always be there. After my initial anger, I felt grateful that she is safe and super proud how she handled the situation. She fought back, she yelled for help, she ran away, and she reported- and he is now behind bars. Who knows what would have happened if he would have grabbed a different 110 lbs. girl that night- she might not have escaped, and he might not have been caught. THIS is why training and awareness are so important. This student is not only trained- but she doesn't know how to give up. We try to shelter the people we care about, but there are monsters in the shadows that we can only hope our people never experience. And while I'm still so sad that it was someone I care about- I'm also relieved she was prepared.
Please talk to your kids. Get them into a reputable martial arts program. It doesn't have to be our program but get them trained. We already had a women's and girl's self-defense seminar planned for August 29th. This is so important to me that I've decided to make this event free for everyone and will refund the payment for anyone who pre-registered. We had an awesome time hosting the Celebree School of Abingdon-Laurel Bush summer camp for a Taekwondo field trip this past Friday! 🥋

The campers got to try fun Taekwondo games, drills, and challenges while practicing focus, confidence, respect, and teamwork.

Thank you to Celebree for visiting. We loved working with your campers!

We had an awesome time performing at Jarrettsville Elementary! 🥋

Our students did a great job showing their confidence, focus, and martial arts skills during the demo. We are so proud of the effort they put into representing Chung’s Martial Arts and sharing what they’ve been working on.

Big congratulations to Donovan for completing our 4-week Confidence Course and earning his white belt. 🥋

Over the past few weeks, he showed effort, focus, and a great attitude in class, and we already see a big difference since his first day!

We love seeing students take pride in their progress and celebrate milestones they have worked for.
