Another year past, another Atlantic Cup tee/tank design! Hope to see you all at Wilmington Rugby's Atlantic Cup tournament. This year it's being held at Hudson Fields; still within close proximity to the DE beaches.
The whole "year in review" on the Atlantic Cup shirts started in 2011. That shirt had a couple news events in it. Since then it's expanded and, by far, the longest design project we do each year. All the "stuff" needs to be designed itself along with the general shirt design....so it's almost like, in this case, 42 design projects in one.
Few things about the design;
- almost every year someone comments that the "design is a mess." It starts as a base, pretty normal design....always does....and then we intentionally screw it up. Try dumping 40 things in a design and see if yours isn't messy. HINT....you can't 😃
- there is absolutely zero commentary (political or otherwise) intended in these designs. All we do is come up with a list of stuff (momentous things from the past year....certainly not all of it) and try to come up with a symbol to represent it. That's it.
- the PREVIOUS record number of items in the design was 38 (2021). Hit a new record with FORTY items in this one.
- most of the hidden items are pretty straight-forward....couple cryptic ones that will definitely have you guessing....some represent multiple things....and at least one that made me laugh as I created it.
