In response to newly enacted Beeville ISD administration policies, the Beeville Sports Hall of Fame (BSHOF) Committee has unanimously agreed to suspend all 2024 Inductee ceremonies and celebrations.
Since the inception of the BSHOF twenty years ago, together with Beeville ISD, it has enjoyed a collaborative and supportive relationship with Beeville ISD district leadership that has always been willing to celebrate the inductees, their families, and the Beeville sports community. For the first time, Beeville ISD district leadership has declined the BSHOF to allow families to join the inductees while being recognized on the field during one of the home Trojan Football games. This decision is in direct conflict with not only the common practice of allowing children, parents, and other individuals on the field for various events throughout the season, including the most recent home game, but also the way BSHOF has celebrated its inductees by introducing them AND their families on the field for the past 20 years.
The BSHOF committee believes this decision is unfounded and in direct conflict with the practices of BSHOF inductions for the past 20 years and makes no sense that the families of the 2024 Inductees who include former district employees, a sitting board member, current district staff, and highly respected members of our community would not be allowed to be on the field, when we see children and families on the field at every game. The family members associated with the 2024 Inductees currently have, or previously has had deep roots in and care deeply about not only Beeville ISD, but also our community. They are not "unknown" strangers.
The BSHOF committee intends to continue its attempts to work with Beeville ISD administration in hopes of honoring the 2024 Inductees, as well as future classes of Inductees the same way it has for past 20 years. The BSHOF committee stands firm in its belief that's its Inductees should be able to celebrate their successes and devotion to Beeville ISD and our community with their families by their side.
These individuals and their families who have not only exhibited an extraordinary set of athletic achievements but have also invested deeply in this community. The committee is thankful for the outpouring of community support for the 2024 Inductees, our committee, and our mission to highlight athletes who have contributed to the rich history of the Beeville Independent School District.
