82 years ago today, brave American and Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy in one of the most important military operations in history. On June 6, 1944, thousands of young men faced impossible odds to defend freedom and help bring an end to World War II.

Many never made it home, but their legacy lives on through the freedoms we enjoy every day.
