Coach. Friend. Brother in Christ. Just a few of the many positive things you could use to describe Rylan. I am so thankful for the 2 and a half years I was able to learn from him and have him as a friend. I so wish we could be there for the sunset hike. Hoping to go visit soon so I can run in the mountains and see all the views he was always enjoying. Thank you, Rylan, for living wild.

🏃‍♂️Big training day? replace the electrolytes you lost through sweating
Some of my go to electrolyte mixes are LMNT, Skratch labs, and good ole pickle juice.

Lets talk food labels.

I could elaborate on this more but here are some basics to look at when choosing food.

Check the nutrition label to make sure no weird ingredients or excess sodium have been added to the food.

Check the calories per serving size. Labels can be tricky in how they show this at times. Is the amount of calories going to leave you feeling full or feeling like you could keep snacking?

Example: Mixed nuts have a higher calorie count but they contain fiber which keeps you feeling satiated. However, a bag of chips may leave you feeling snacky.

Healthy is not as complicated as the "diet" industry wants to make it!

Ever heard you burn more calories by sweating more? Even though it feels like it, this isn’t necessarily the case.
I can run an easy 3 miles right now and sweat like crazy but only burn a few hundred calories!

💧Sweat is our body’s natural cooling system. The purpose of sweating is to regulate body temperature.
🌡More sweat = high body temp
💧When sweat evaporates the body cools down

So why bother making yourself sweat during a workout? It makes you feel better that’s why! (Maybe the sweat doesn’t feel so great but the endorphins do!)

🚗Your car will not go with out gas just like your body will not go without calories.
🍓What kind of food you choose to eat will determine how well your body functions. Low nutritional value foods will not fuel your body to go as optimally as possible.
🍦This isn’t to say to never have dessert or fun foods but think about where the majority of your calories are coming from.
🥔Make sure you fuel with correct carbs that will slowly give you energy if you are not near a workout. But if you are needing a quicker fuel source go for a simpler carb.

🤔Some questions to ask yourself: Am I eating fruits and vegetables? Am I taking in enough calories? Am I drinking water?
🥝Small change challenge: Try some fruit for a snack instead of chips or change out a coke for a bottle of water.
