It's a mystery. Invasive sea lamprey, the Great Lakes' biggest predator, primarily feed on lake trout, one of the lakes' most prized sports fish. When trout populations are high, researchers expect to see fewer lamprey-wounded fish, and more of those wounds when lamprey populations are spiking.

Reminiscing continues to summer 2017.......stand up paddle boarding South Fox Island to North Fox Island arriving in moonlit darkness. Surprise a group of airplane campers who provide camaraderie, a party and some fun aerial photos as I move on to Beaver Island. What a trip!

2017 solo stand up paddleboard trip from Frankfort, Michigan to Sleeping Bear Dunes, across the shipping lane to South Manitou Island, North Manitou Island, South Fox Island, North Fox Island and finishing around the west side of Beaver Island into the harbor 7 days and 129 miles later.
