While you’re debating whether you need more protein…🤔

Max is literally bringing it home.😆😆

🐭💪

Jokes aside, protein is one of the most important nutrients for maintaining muscle as we age! 💙💪🏼💙

A few facts:

✅ Protein helps preserve and build muscle tissue.

✅ More muscle helps support metabolism, balance, strength, and independence.

✅ Protein helps keep you fuller longer and may reduce mindless snacking.

✅ After age 30, we naturally begin losing muscle mass if we don’t actively work to maintain it.

✅ Strength training + adequate protein is one of the best investments you can make for your future self.

You don’t have to eat like a bodybuilder, but most people aren’t getting as much protein as they think they are.

Need help figuring out how much protein you should be eating? Send us a message.

Meanwhile, Max would like everyone to…

EAT YOUR DAMN PROTEIN!!! 💙💁🏻‍♀️😹

P.S. No, we are not recommending mice as a protein source. 😆🐭

Your body won’t change in a week.

But the habits you practice every day can change your life.

Most people overestimate what they can accomplish in a week and underestimate what they can accomplish in a year.

Focus on building habits:

• Strength train consistently
• Eat enough protein
• Walk daily
• Get quality sleep
• Plan ahead

The results will follow.

If you don’t know where to start, we can help! Keep it simple!!! 💙💪🏼💙

🌧️ If you’re in our area, it’s raining like crazy. The roads are a mess, visibility is poor, and nobody wants to be out in it.

Before you grab your phone and order takeout or delivery, consider having groceries brought to your door instead. 💁🏻‍♀️

Stock up on simple staples:
✔️ Chicken tenders
✔️ Lean ground beef
✔️ Turkey
✔️ Eggs
✔️ Salad supplies
✔️ Potatoes or rice
✔️ Frozen and fresh vegetables
✔️ Fruit

Throw something in the oven, the crockpot, or on the stovetop and you’ll have several healthy meals ready to go instead of one meal that’s gone in 15 minutes.

A little planning today can save you from a day or week of feeling sluggish, bloated, and frustrated that you got off track.

Drive safe. Stay dry. Don’t eat like crap. And eat your damn protein! 💪

🐾 Meanwhile, Max would like everyone to know that rainy days are for naps, bird watching, and judging people who order fast food instead of cooking the groceries already sitting in their kitchen. 😃He takes this responsibility very seriously.

On May 15, I posted about how there are so many ways to exercise and move your body. 💪🏼 During this season of life, an adult dance class presented itself, so I decided to incorporate it into my weight training routine and work-life schedule. Go check out that post if you missed it—it’s definitely a flashback! 😄💃

What I didn’t realize was that they would eventually ask us to be in the recital! At first, my response was, “I’m good.” 😂 Then I thought, “Why not?”🤷🏻‍♀️

On my very first day of class, I didn’t know a single person. For those who know me, you know I love meeting people, but walking into something completely new after more than 34 years away from dance was still a little intimidating.

The classes, the TEACHERS, the friendships, the recital, and the entire experience were incredible! The class photo is missing a few people, and the recital photos are a little blurry —but I had to share them anyway!💙

Stepping outside my comfort zone turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time. It challenged me, energized me, and reminded me that growth doesn’t stop just because we get older.

So if you think for even one second that you’re too old, too tired, too busy, or too “whatever” to try something new—do it anyway!

Whether it’s strength training, Pilates, dance classes, an art class, scuba diving, singing, a spin class, or something completely different—just do it! I’ve been all over our area trying new things these days! 😆

Do it scared. YOU vs YOU!

Because at the end of the day, the joy you’ll feel and the pride you’ll have in yourself may surprise you. And who knows? It might inspire you to keep making time for yourself and keep saying “yes” to new experiences.💙

Take an hour—or even less—FOR YOURSELF! 💙 Ask around about classes, groups, and opportunities in your area. Try something you’ve always wanted to do.

If you’re interested in learning how to strength train for the season of life you’re in, give us a call. We’d love to help. 💪🏼💪🏼

As for me? Another session of adult dance classes starts next week here in Beaumont iRule Dance Studio … and I’m at it again! 💃❤️

One of the most common questions we get is how we eat on the weekends.

The answer is simple:

The same way we eat during the week.
Now, if we have something special planned—a brunch, dinner out, celebration, vacation, or family event—we enjoy it and move on.

But most weekends look very similar to our weekdays because we have built a consistent routine that works for us.

Here’s something we see all the time:

People follow their nutrition plan Monday through Friday, then treat the weekend as two days of cheat meals, endless snacks, drinks, and “starting over on Monday.”

Then they wonder why nothing changes.
If you’re happy where you are and simply want to maintain your current health and weight, occasional off-plan meals may not be a big deal.

But if your goal is to get leaner, lose body fat, improve your health, or reach a new level of fitness, your weekends matter just as much as your weekdays. 💙💪🏼💙

The truth is, many people don’t have a Monday-Friday problem—they have a Saturday-Sunday problem.

Stop thinking of weekends as a break from healthy eating! 💁🏻‍♀️

Start thinking of them as two more opportunities to fuel your body well.

Consistency—not perfection—is what gets results!

And consistency includes weekends! 😉

It’s Friday! 💪

What are you doing today to build muscle?

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is that building muscle is only for young people. The truth is that older adults can absolutely build strength and muscle. It may take a little more planning, consistency, and recovery, but it can be done.

A few facts:
✅ Muscle loss naturally occurs as we age if we don’t challenge it.
✅ Strength training can improve balance, mobility, and independence.
✅ Building muscle helps support metabolism and everyday activities.
✅ It’s never too late to start.

For many people, losing weight is the primary goal. That’s fine—but gaining and maintaining muscle should never be a temporary goal. It should be a lifetime mission!!

Strong muscles help us do the things we love, stay active, and maintain our quality of life as we get older. 💪🏼💪🏼

Not sure where to start? Send us a message. We would be happy to help point you in the right direction. 💙💪🏼

Have a great Friday and keep moving!

Lean Turkey Slaw – Quick and Easy 💪

Need a fast meal idea? Here’s one straight from our kitchen:

✅ Protein of your choice
✅ Broccoli slaw
✅ Chopped pickles
✅ A splash of olive oil
✅ A splash of red wine vinegar

Mix it all together and you’ve got a high-protein meal with plenty of crunch, flavor, and volume.

We used lean turkey because we almost always have some cooked and ready to go at our house, but chicken, ground beef, shrimp, or leftover steak would work just as well.

Sometimes healthy eating is as simple as using what you already have on hand and making it work.

Quick. Easy. Delicious!

Bringing back an old text message… 😂💙

Nutrition is everything!

One cinnamon roll doesn’t ruin your progress, but if the rest of the day turns into “well, I already messed up…” that’s where people get into trouble.

Drink your water.
Eat your damn protein.
Get your fiber in.
Make the next meal a good one.

You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to stop letting one choice turn into a whole day of choices that don’t support your goals.

As personal trainers, our job is to hold our clients accountable, push them when they need it, and remind them that one less-than-perfect choice doesn’t mean the day is lost.

Progress is built one meal, one workout, and one decision at a time.

If you’re ready to build healthier habits and stop starting over every Monday, come see us or send us a text. We’d love to help. 💙

P.S. We never mention names, but your text may end up in a future post. 😂

🍽️ What’s for lunch?

Leftover chicken tenders, pre-boiled red potatoes, and roasted carrots. Throw it all in a pan with fresh green onions and garlic and there ya go! 💁🏻‍♀️💁🏻‍♀️💙

Nothing fancy, just making leftovers work and getting in some protein.

Sure, I could’ve just microwaved everything, but I had a few extra minutes and my stove was available today! 😄

You have to eat anyway… might as well use what you’ve already got in the fridge.💁🏻‍♀️

Recovery becomes more important as we age.

When we’re younger, we can often get away with poor sleep, inconsistent nutrition, and training hard every day.

As we get older, recovery isn’t optional—it’s part of the program.

✅ Prioritize sleep
✅ Eat enough protein
✅ Stay hydrated
✅ Manage stress
✅ Take rest days when needed
✅ Keep moving, even on recovery days

Remember: You don’t get stronger during your workout. You get stronger when your body recovers from it.

Train hard, recover well, and keep showing up. Consistency beats intensity every time.
