“Why is my kid batting at the bottom of the lineup?” Truth is it happens to the best of them, but it doesn’t define his/her future. Every spot has a purpose on the team. Sure, there is strategy and reasoning for having your “best” hitters towards the top and middle of the lineup, but coaches don’t always get it right. And you know what, who cares?! These kids just want to play. But if you’re telling them that batting at the bottom is a bad thing, then they’ll project that energy onto the rest of the team and into themselves.

Here is what I know to be true -

*Scouts will not care how many tournament rings your kid has, yep even the World Series rings

*Scouts will not care about little Johnny making it to Majors level in travel ball (Not even High School Coaches care about that stuff)

*Scouts will not care that your kid batted at the top of the lineup during their travel ball career

Use their youth baseball time to grow their love for the game, grow mentally and learn to overcome adversity. And stop putting so much pressure on these coaches to “Win”. Relax, let your kid go through the good and bad, and watch their purpose and gifts begin to unfold when you trust the process.
