5v5 Outdoor Soccer Rules
ELIGIBILITY AND PARTICIPATION:
This is an adult 18+ Co-Ed soccer club, and all genders are welcome. All players must be on the schedule before they are allowed to participate. Teams:
• Teams consist of five players on the field at one time.
• Teams must have a minimum of 5 players on the schedule. Team’s colors will be either white or blue. Teams will be divided into 2 g
roups and the schedule will confirm what color you should bring/wear to the game.
3. Each player is responsible for their own water, snacks and personal equipment (shin guards, etc.)
4. Field Dimensions: The playing field is 60 yards long by 40yards wide. The goals are 3.5 feet high by six feet wide. GAME TIME:
Each game will consist of two 25-minute halves with a 5-minute halftime.
• Time is stopped only in case of injury to players or temporary loss of the ball.
• If the end result is a tie, there will be five-minute overtimes until a goal is made and a winner is decided. If the teams are still tied after two five-minute overtimes, the game will be taken to penalty kicks. It will be played to 3, and if they are tied, it will be sudden death penalty kicks until a winner is decided. PLAYING THE GAME:
1. A regulation team consists of five players. Subs are optional but encouraged.
2. Each team must have four players on the field to start the game (four of the same gender is allowed). If a team does not have four players to start, they must forfeit the game.
3. Substitutions may be made at any dead ball situation, regardless of possession. Players are to enter and exit at midfield.
4. THERE ARE NO REFS! Any game disputes will be handled respectfully.
5. Before each game, team leaders will be assigned to each team that will be responsible for timing the game and to discuss disputes with the other team’s leader if necessary.
6. At the beginning of the game the ball shall be kicked back to another player and the kicker cannot kick the ball a second time until it has touched another player. At the kickoff, the opposing team must remain 10 feet from the ball until it is kicked for the first time.
7. If the game is temporarily suspended for any reason other than out of bounds, the game will restart the game by dropping the ball at the point closest to where play was suspended or the closest point outside the penalty area if the ball was in the penalty area at the time of the stoppage. No player may play the ball until the ball has touched the ground.
8. No one on either team shall enter the box that is designated in front of the goals in a time where the ball is present in the box. If a defensive player enters the box to block a ball from going into the goal, there will be a penalty kick from half court on an open goal. If the player misses, then the defensive team shall receive the ball and be allowed to pass it indirectly from the corner of the box. If an offensive player enters the box in a time where the ball is present in the box, the result of the penalty will be an indirect free kick for the opposing team on the corner of the box. The plane of the goal box extends upward indefinitely
9. A goal may only be scored from a touch (offensive or defensive) within a team's
offensive half of the field (Ball must be completely on the offensive half of the field: Can not be touching the midline). If a player in their defensive end kicks the ball across midline and the ball hits another player (offensive or defensive) and the ball goes in the goal, a goal will be awarded.
10. Kick Ins: If ball goes out of bounds, the ball shall be kicked into play from the sideline instead of thrown in. The ball is considered in play when the ball is touched with a foot and moves.
11. No player will lift his leg higher than his or her waist to kick a ball.
12. If a player has fallen to the ground, he or she may not make a move on the ball until they have stood back up.
13. There will be no slide tackling.
14. If the ball is caught between the net and the wall, then an indirect kick will be given to he defensive team at the corner of the net.
15. No metal studs in cleats
16. Free Kicks: kick-offs, goal kicks, kick-ins shall be indirect.
17. Five Yard Rule: In all dead ball situations, defending players must stand at least five yards away from the ball. If the defensive player's goal is closer than five yards, the ball shall be played five yards from the goal box, in line with the place of the penalty.
18. THERE IS NO OFFSIDE IN 5V5 SOCCER! PLAYER MISCONDUCT:
1. Excessive misconduct will result in a player ejection. If a player is ejected from the game, that player will automatically be suspended for their next game (no exceptions).

• Verbal or physical abuse towards an opponent or teammate
