Claressa Shields reclaimed the WBC and WBA middleweight titles with a sixth-round stoppage of Australia's Kaye Scott in Atlanta and is now targeting Britain's Lauren Price.

Shields moved down from heavyweight to middleweight for the bout, becoming a world champion at 160 pounds for the third time.

She controlled the fight throughout, with the key moments coming in the sixth round when the 42-year-old Scott was dropped before being subjected to a barrage of punches on the ropes.

"This was a really hard camp," said Shields, a five-division champion who won Olympic gold in 2012 and 2016. "I cut 38 pounds. I was at 198 pounds and got down to 160. This is the most disciplined I've been since the Olympics, I feel like."

Asked who she wants to fight next, Shields called out unified welterweight champion Price and also named Tamm Thibeault, who holds the WBO and IBF middleweight belts.

The American's promoter, Dmitry Salita, believes the Welsh fighter should travel to the United States for the potential showdown.

"Claressa came down to middleweight to make the biggest fights possible," Salita told Sky Sports. "We want to make this a mega-event [vs. Price], and I believe that fight belongs in the United States.

"That being said, we love the UK, and another fight there is certainly not out of the question. It's an incredible time for women's boxing."

Former NBA player Royce White is drawing attention after announcing plans to enter the 2027 WNBA Draft.

White, 35, said in an interview that he identifies as transgender and a woman “for purposes of basketball” and intends to declare for the draft. His announcement came just one day after former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom said he also planned to enter the 2027 WNBA Draft.

The announcements have reignited debate over transgender athletes, eligibility rules, and whether former NBA players could qualify to compete in the WNBA.
