The Business of Chasing the Dream

For more than 12 years, I’ve witnessed the realities of player development from multiple perspectives—as a clinician, coach, executive, and advocate.

This publication is the beginning of an honest conversation about the challenges, opportunities, and realities of pursuing professional baseball.

If you are a current or former player, coach, parent, scout, agent, academy owner, or part of a player development program and would like to share your story, I would love to hear from you.

Whether your experience was positive or negative, your voice matters.

If you’re interested in being interviewed or contributing your story to this project, please contact me.

The goal isn’t to criticize the game. It’s to improve it—one conversation at a time.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT | COMUNICADO OFICIAL

Official Statement

After much reflection, I have made the difficult decision to suspend and close all projects and initiatives of the Panamerican Baseball Foundation and its affiliated leagues, effective immediately.

This decision is not the result of a lack of vision, commitment, or effort. It is the result of a reality that has become impossible to ignore: there has been no sustainable financial support and very little genuine interest from any sector in helping make these initiatives a reality.

For years, I have worked tirelessly, investing countless hours, personal resources, and unwavering dedication because I truly believe there is a tremendous need for opportunities that give overlooked athletes a chance to develop, compete, continue their education, and pursue their dreams.

Unfortunately, passion alone cannot sustain programs of this magnitude.

Over the years, I have noticed a discouraging pattern. Most of the phone calls I receive are from people looking for financial assistance or looking to get paid—not offering support. Others reach out simply to ask how I plan to make these projects work, only to follow with reasons why they believe they cannot succeed. Very few conversations have centered on collaboration, solutions, or a genuine willingness to help move the mission forward.

Building something meaningful requires more than vision. It requires people willing to stand behind that vision with encouragement, partnership, resources, and action. That level of support never materialized.

I hold no resentment toward anyone. I am sincerely grateful to every player, coach, volunteer, family, organization, and supporter who believed in this mission and contributed in any way. Your trust and support have meant more than words can express.

However, there comes a point when responsibility requires honesty. I cannot continue promoting opportunities that cannot be sustained without the resources necessary to provide them with excellence and integrity.

My belief has not changed. The need is real. There are thousands of talented young athletes around the world who deserve access to quality development, education, mental health support, mental performance training, exposure, and fair opportunities regardless of where they were born.

Until that day comes, the Panamerican Baseball Foundation and all related projects will remain suspended, with no timeline for reactivation.

While this chapter is coming to an end, my professional career is not.

I remain available for serious professional opportunities in Mental Health, Mental Performance, player development, leadership, and baseball operations. I am available to provide clinical mental health services, mental performance consulting, leadership development, educational programs, and to serve as a coach, manager, consultant, advisor, or program director at the high school, collegiate, professional, or international levels.

Organizations seeking an experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience in professional baseball, athlete development, leadership, organizational growth, and high-performance environments are welcome to contact me.

As I close this chapter, I have also come to accept an important reality.

The baseball community, for the most part, has chosen what it values. It continues to spend thousands of dollars traveling to the same showcases, paying to play in the same tournaments, attending the same events, chasing the same exposure opportunities, and following the same paths year after year, hoping for different outcomes.

There is nothing wrong with investing in opportunities. However, there seems to be far less interest in supporting new ideas, investing in long-term player development, mental health, education, leadership, or innovative programs designed to create lasting change. Vision is often praised, but rarely funded.

That is a choice the baseball community is free to make, and I respect it.

As for me, I have chosen to stop asking people to believe in a vision they are not prepared to support.

I leave with my integrity intact, knowing that every decision I made was driven by one purpose: creating opportunities for athletes who otherwise might never have had one.

Perhaps one day the baseball world will recognize that meaningful change is not created by repeating what has always been done, but by having the courage to build something different.

To everyone who believed in this journey, thank you. You reminded me that service still matters and that real impact is measured by lives touched—not by headlines, recognition, or social media attention.

Dreams do not die. Sometimes they simply wait for the right people to believe in them.

Respectfully,

🔹 Dominican Summer League
🔹 Six-month stint with the Hiroshima Toyo Carp organization in Japan

🔹 6th Caribbean Cup – Bahamas (2024)
🔹 7th Caribbean Cup – Bahamas (2025), where he was recognized as the Top Starting Pitcher of the Tournament
🔹 Current Fastball Velocity: 93–96 MPH

Today, Yonawill continues his professional career with the Kagawa Olive Guyners of Japan .og_official , becoming another example of how international opportunities can be created through hard work, persistence, and performance.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Claudio Cipone, President of the Dominican Republic Region, for his commitment to player development and opportunities. We also thank Marc Russo and MR Sports Promotion for their support and efforts in helping Yonawill advance his professional career.

This signing is bigger than one player. It opens doors and creates visibility for countless athletes throughout the Dominican Republic and across the Panamerican League network.

👏 Congratulations, Yonawill. We wish you continued success as you represent your country and inspire the next generation of players.
