Today we had the annual Southern Regional Fishing Club trip aboard the Star Fish! With cold water temperatures still hanging around, the crew worked hard and found two deep-water reefs loaded with fish. By the end of the day, we caught over 150 fish, keeping 54 keeper sea bass and 9 ling, while releasing countless shorts and tog.

Great group, great fishing, and a great day on the water. Special thanks to johnnyotackle for donating rigs, and knoteasybaitco for donating the fresh clams!

Day 10 update 🏴‍☠️

Pushing through the night and threading the needle between two wind cells, we caught a solid 20 knot south wind that carried us all the way back to Beach Haven. The Black Pearl is officially tied up and ready for the 2026 season.

While there was no piracy, pillaging, or plundering on this trip, Captain Max stayed busy—tying nearly 500 hi-lo rigs for seabass and another 100 rigs for fluke along the way.

Day 9 update 🏴‍☠️

After a quick few hours tied up in Coinjock, we were back underway at first light to catch the bridge openings and make our final lock before reaching Norfolk, VA. Really cool running through there—tons of naval vessels being worked on, tied up, and actively patrolling the area.

We’re back on the move and pushing north through the night, hoping to be tied up around noon tomorrow.

Day 8 update 🏴‍☠️

After a solid night of sleep, we got back underway for another full day on the water. Conditions didn’t let up, with 20–25 knot northeast winds, rough seas, and torrential rain, making for a long ride.

Despite that, North Carolina delivered some of the best scenery of the trip so far, making the grind a little more worthwhile.

Currently headed north past the Alligator River Bridge, hoping to make Coinjock Marina around midnight.

Day 7 update 🏴‍☠️

After about 60 hours straight underway, we’re safely tied up in Beaufort, NC for the night. It was a tough push getting here—4–6 foot seas and steady 30 knot ENE winds made for a rough ride the whole way up.

The boat handled it well, but the galley took a bit of a beating and needs some extra cleaning and minor reorganization. Good to be tied up and getting a break before the next leg north.

Day 6 update 🏴‍☠️

Slowly making our way up the coast, currently about 50 miles south of Myrtle Beach. It’s been a bit of a grind today with a north wind and some heavier seas, knocking about a mile an hour off our pace compared to yesterday. Nothing we can’t handle, just making for a longer voyage. Plan is to keep heading north through the night as long as the weather holds and doesn’t turn on us.

Day 5 update 🏴‍☠️

After a morning of maintenance in the boatyard, we got underway around 9 AM and pushed out of Ponce Inlet heading north. Smooth run so far, making steady progress up the coast with an ETA to the Florida/Georgia border around 9:30 tonight. Plan is to keep it moving and run through the night as we continue north.
