It’s sad that we even need to say this, but we’ve seen an increase in disrespect toward our boat and crew. A few simple reminders:

1. We are not your babysitter.
We love having families and kids aboard, but parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their children at all times.

2. Respect our boat.
We take tremendous pride in keeping the Star Fish clean, safe, and in pristine mechanical condition. Please treat our vessel and equipment with respect.

3. Respect our crew.
We will always treat you with respect and expect the same in return. We’re happy to offer fishing tips, pointers, and assistance, but rude or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.

If these basic rules cannot be followed, we will return to the dock and end the trip.

To the overwhelming majority of our customers—thank you. Many of you treat our crew like family and have made the Star Fish a yearly tradition during your LBI vacation. That means more to us than you know.

Respect the boat. Respect the crew. Enjoy your time on the water.

Know Your Boat. Know Your Captain. Book responsibly. Book the Star Fish.

When you step aboard a charter boat, safety should always come first.

The Star Fish is a U.S. Coast Guard-inspected passenger vessel, inspected annually and maintained to meet or exceed applicable USCG, state, and federal safety requirements. Our captains are properly licensed, and our mates are fully trained before working your trip.

Not every charter boat is inspected, and not every operation is legal.

Before stepping aboard, know who you’re trusting with the safety of you, your family, and your friends. Don’t be afraid to ask about the vessel’s inspection and your captain’s license.

⚠️ What is an illegal charter? 🛥️

A suspected illegal charter operation is a passenger-for-hire operation that does not comply with applicable federal requirements.

Dependent on the vessel and operation, this may include:
- operating without a properly credentialed captain;
- carrying more passengers than authorized;
- requiring more than one passenger to pay for the voyage;
- operating without a required Coast Guard Certificate of Inspection (COI);
- failing to meet drug and alcohol testing requirements; or
- lacking required safety equipment.

For immediate danger to life or property, dial 911 or call the Coast Guard on VHF-FM Marine Channel 16.

Only 20 days until Labor Day 2026! ☀️🎣

The summer may be flying by, but there’s still plenty of time to get out on the water aboard the Star Fish. We still have a few openings available for fishing trips, sightseeing cruises, sunset cruises, and more!

And remember, our season doesn’t end on Labor Day. We’ll continue running trips into the fall, but it’s never too early to reserve your date.

🦈 A change of pace aboard the Star Fish!

Today, Captain Darren and First Mate Ryan took a break from bottom fishing and surprised their charter with a morning of catch-and-release shark fishing!

The crew hooked into and landed 5 sharks, with the largest estimated at nearly 400 pounds! Species included brown sharks and sand tiger sharks, all safely released to fight another day.

Huge shoutout to the Queen City Marina Service Department for keeping our wheels turning! Easy scheduling, work completed on time, and mechanics who don’t mess around and get the job done.

Our annual mid-season haul-out is officially complete, and the Star Fish is back in the water and ready for the second half of our season!
