Most basketball players are standing in the wrong line.
AAU basketball provides competition, teamwork and exposure—but playing more games doesn’t automatically develop better players.
According to current NCAA estimates:
🏀 Only 3.6% of boys who play high-school basketball reach an NCAA roster.
🏀 Only 1.1% reach NCAA Division I.
🏀 For girls, approximately 4.7% reach an NCAA roster and only 1.4% reach Division I.
USA Basketball’s foundational development model recommends approximately a 70:30 training-to-competition ratio.
Games reveal a player’s weaknesses.
Skill training helps correct them.
Before paying for another tournament, ask:
Does my player need more games—or more development?
The best approach includes both. But competition should never replace learning proper shooting mechanics, ball handling, footwork, decision-making and athletic development.
Train Today. Advance Tomorrow.
