Like a kid on Christmas!! Airmar R111LH 2KW Chirp behemoth getting ready to be paired with a brand new 24” Garmin 8624. I’m curious about this new Garmin Phantom solid state radar going on too. I’ve only installed and used the Simrad solid state radars so far and they’ve been hands down the best I’ve ever seen.

From shrimp boats to drill ships. Funny how things play out. I can still remember going offshore with my dad for a few weeks in the summer at the age I am in this picture. We used to drag the old Mississippi River Gulf Outlet just outside of Breton Island LA. We would have to drag up the side of the channel to let the ships go by headed for New Orleans or headed off to a foreign port. I remember like it was yesterday my dad saying, “you could be captain on one those one day if you wanted to.” At the time I thought it was bigger than me and unachievable. Never even gave it a second thought. 34+ years later here we are.
