Screwworm is about to become a hot topic in the horse world — and probably all over social media.

As information starts flying, remember to fact-check your sources, stay informed, and avoid panic.

New World screwworm has recently been detected in the United States, and animal health officials are actively monitoring and responding to the situation. It is a serious concern for livestock, pets, and wildlife, but there are also established surveillance and control programs already in place.

The best thing horse owners can do right now is practice good wound care, inspect animals regularly, and contact a veterinarian if you notice unusual wounds, drainage, or maggots. Early detection is critical.

Stay informed. Stay vigilant. Take care of your animals. But don’t let social media do your thinking for you.

🐴 Warning: You May Be Exposed to Horse Addiction Disorder (HAD) 🐴

Unfortunately, there is no known cure.

Symptoms may include:
✅ Talking about horses nonstop
✅ Spending all your extra money on horses
✅ Waking up early to ride horses
✅ Spending hours caring for horses
✅ Planning your entire schedule around horses
✅ Taking vacations… and immediately finding more horses to ride

Here at Blue Horse Farm, we are all affected. We love horses, ride horses, care for horses, teach about horses, and apparently can’t even leave town without tracking down a trail ride, ranch, or lesson somewhere.

We’ve tried everything:
❌ Logic
❌ Financial planning
❌ Free weekends

Nothing works.

If you notice your child suddenly asking for riding lessons, wearing boots everywhere, or spending their free time watching horse videos, exposure may have already occurred.

Proceed with caution.
